if you dissaproove so bloody much of the thread... post somthing usefull of at least positive! Ahem.... awefull looking curse word. and.... I'm feeling too many negative waves for this forum guys! *must address balance* What's going on at the moment?? We had this much slagging going on with the Rover 400 thread the other week, Lex's new thread in Reader's Wives, random slagging people off on year-old threads.... Super fun

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Good work RobinXR4i I like that photoshop a lot and the one on Merc wheels. seems to work real well by not going pretending its a Hot rod or summat, instead working with what its got.
I saw a reasonable one at Wheels 2008, will post it again if this thread is still alive tomorrow.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I don't understand the hate for the PT at all, I think they look really good. Is it just because people on here generally hate any car that tries to mimic the styling of an old car?

Is it just because people on here generally hate any car that tries to mimic the styling of an old car? i cant speak for anyone else, but IMO, the pt cruiser misses the mark on so many different levels. and yet they continue to sell - I often see classic american / hotrod car owners driving them, I know of four local to me that are a daily driver for '50 & 60's american car owners

I don't like them as such... its not just the car.. its the way people go about it...think of it this way: *alot of them bought the cars new (expensive) *they obvioulsy have a liking of customs/hotrods as they tend to take alot of there missguided influinces from them.. *for the money spent on buying and modifiying a depreciating modern car like the pt.. they could have bought or even better imported a well sorted street rod .. with all the modern refinements... and then had a decent resale value... and a cool car one thing I have noticed tho.. it was pretty much doing it alone at the time.. being I'm sure the only retro-esq car at that time...maybe another reason its not a great hit? as a car to be used abused, and enjoyed on the weekend too if you like comfort then I think its a winner... and they seem to like em.. just one thing we must have learnt here that alot of RR members don't appriciate em A cool chysler rod? farm3.static.flickr.com/2650/3715410371_590b2c53e4.jpg?v=0

I'm not going to slag these off, after all in the case every one of the cars posted their owners have tried to personalise their car in a way that they think looks good. I don't think they'd be that interested whether or not their car is our cup of tea or not!
The problem I have with the PT Cruiser is, it seems the Chrysler suits have sat down in a boardroom with a designer and said 'we'd like to design a people carrier in the style of a hot rod' and this is how it ended up. It's kind of design by consortium, and the ideas may have started out well, but once the production, safety and the finance department have all had their say the design is a million miles from the initial concept.
