Hi guys My girlfriend Hixxie joined the site last month, so i thought id drop by and say hello and also let you know of the new magazine being launched in March next year. It will be called Retro Ford magazine, aimed mainly at Mk1 & 2 Escorts, Anglias, Cortinas, Capris and the like. I am working as Deputy editor on this magazine and would be grateful for any comments you may have. Cheers guys

Heard about this mag, sounds good cos i got bored of the competition. and yeah more good mags in the newsagents. or discount subs/free first issue to RR members

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

We have signed with a new distribution company, so the magazine will be widely available as soon as it is launched in March.
If you know of any cars that might be worthy of a feature, please drop me a pm with the spec and a few piccys

What sort of things are you looking for ie. standard or modified cars, finished cars works in progress or rally cars or all of the above ;D.
I guess it will be a direct competitor to classic ford, what will be getting done different to encourage people to buy it.
Definetely will look forward too it though.

Best thing you could do is feature cool cars insted of 'yet another mk2 rally car' Like this i5.ebayimg.com/01/i/05/65/1a/dc_12_sb.JPGThe modified ford scene is dire. Hardly anyone has any imagination and when someone does do something a little differnt it never gets seen because all those old codgers with their rally cars have a monopoly over the 'ford media' as such.

Seconded - more interesting Escorts - I love MK2 RS2000s, but nice to see some subtly different 4 doors etc.

I know if you stick a rally spec escort on the cover its gonna shift units but there are people out there doing much more creative things with old fords. I think the kind of thing i'd like to see in a Classic Ford Magazine would be more of the custom scene represented plus the more grass roots stuff. Theres only so many mega buck escorts you can look at before you get bored. More Cortinas, Capri's, Granada's, that sort of thing plus the more obscure Australian and South African stuff. One thing that I've wanted to see in a magazine is a feature on australian fords and how they developed their models in relation to the stuff we got over here. Btw I'm loving that escort slater posted

We are aiming the magazine at the real ford scene. Its as much the people as it is the cars that make it what it is. Its not going to be all big bucks cars. While there will be cars to aspire to, there will also be cars to inspire you too! Track cars, race cars, modified road cars, concours cars... Hopefully something for everyone!

There will be loads of "grass routes" cars as these are the true representation of whats going on. We also have a few foreign cars lined up to show you guys exactly whats going on elsewhere and hopefully pump some fresh ideas into the scene!!

All I can say is good luck, really. I find the oldschool ford scene rather stagnant and very, very few cars in the UK seem to fall outside the Rally Rep or Kustom fields.
Get Latham's silver mkII 4-door German Looker on the front of the launch issue.

This sounds very promising ;D I agree with Penski, the scene is a little stagnant. I'm as interested in mk1+2 escorts as the next guy, but the perfect magazine for me would be one that mixes up the usual retro ford fodder with stuff like mk1 fiestas, mk3 escorts, mk4+5 cortinas, sierras etc etc All those fords on the cusp of classic status
