I want to have one bloody topic on it if there has to be one... frankly though unless there is some interesting retro content, whats the point... I don't see this post going off discussing Jay Leno's awesome car collection, instead focusing on Clarksons comment about Aston Martin/the usual tired "we won't be able to do this much longer" schtick. It is just dissapointing, their are so many more interesting things to talk about... but these threads get so much traffic... I expect if there was less of this whinging we could drift off into a nice lil history of aston / top gear thread?? I Reckon the whole moaning about the cause of the thread is the cause of the lack of retro comments in it!, if its car related let it run and hopefully itll come around... if its not car related then lock it or whinge bin it... by moaning in any thread you dislike your doing the exact thing you hate on your forum. my personal whinge mode now switched off and hope I didnt offend just my po

I was hoping that in one thread people would see they were going round and round in circles.. and eventually stop. I was treating people like adults (as I occasionally do,.. and always regret ). I know you are saying that with a hint of jest but really, while I appreciate the complications and frustrations of running forums, you need to stop making digs at our maturity and start seeing things as we see them. If I see a new Top Gear thread my first instinct is to assume the previous one got winge binned. We don't need baby sitting but we do need guidance, myself and the majority here want to do things your way, so we don't waste your time or our own.

If I see a new Top Gear thread my first instinct is to assume the previous one got winge binned. Then it is the responsibility of the person starting it to make sure it isn't already discussed, it doesn't take much to check, zip back a few pages and you'll find it. If I could merge the threads right now I would. But that having been said the previous one turned to nonsense pretty quickly, and this one (even without the post oldbus comments) managed to start arguments within 1 page. Maybe Top Gear is just not a great topic of conversation? Like politics and relgion ... At least this won't have to be thought about for another few months (if ever!!... gasp!! how exciting).

Well I guess we've identified were this debate hinges. I think the responsibility is shared between us as users and the admin/moderation team. If the threads bother you I think you need to make a clear stance by Nov and stick by it. FWIW don't think you can stop it so need a place for it. Create a dedicated Top Gear catchment thread and delete any new ones that are created (or take the time to merge them).

Why did the Aston have Team Dynamics City wheels? Matt Not being a wheel whore myself is it a good thing for it to have those wheels? If it is then obviously someone at AML has taste!

A lot of Aston parts like wheels and exhausts are sub contracted out to the big tier-1 manufacturers. These manufacturers also supply a lot of the common brands you see in places like Halfords.
I don't remember the exact details but they used to use a wheel manufacturer that also supplied wheels to the likes of TWR and 100+, and exhaust manufacturer who supplied the likes of Jetex. They recently changed their in car entertainment supplier to Alpine I believe.
It's all made to Astons specifications though, although the wheel manufacturer may own the rights to the wheel style it won't mean the wheels on Vantage V12 and the wheels in RipSpeed will be anything like in terms of construction and quality control.

Perhaps the TG issue could be incorporated within the RR MO, then I could post more cats. ;D It's not rocket science. If watching TG awakens your imagination about a particular make/model/era, then let it be a springboard. Do some research, find some facts, find some pics, post 'em. Ask others to do the same. That's what (usually) happens with the previously sh*te 'Show Me.....' threads these days, and it works well. It's even started to happen with later posts on this thread!!! If watching TG fulls you with nausea/venom/bile/hatred, then may I suggest www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/homepage/ would be a better place to vent your vitriol. Simples.
