Two things I'll be adding are some basic storage units behind the seats just because there is zero carrying at the moment (nothing fancy...prob just a couple of ammo crates if you know of any going??) There's a good army surplus store on the Hotwells Road that stocks just about everything and is run by an old man who'll keep you talking for ever and ever. Highly recommended

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

DId I mention I love the rail? Thanks Leigh I'm hoping to get it running a bit better soon which will give me the confidence to bring it over. Once the engine is running correctly, all I need is to sort some proper weather gear & gloves for me, some basic storage then I'll be booking a ferry. Aside from getting to meet up with/spend some time with you guys again.....that route around the coast near you is a major incentive to come over and is getting me really fired up. I hope you've got some warm/waterproof clothing? You're going to need it.....but boy you're gonna love the rail even more after a day out in it. ;D BTW - I don't usually give my cars names but Pauric (Doire Man) has accidentally named it for me. On Saturday night, along with Niall (Nugget), we were having a late night chat about cars, as you do. Pauric kept talking about how much he loved the 'sand rail' - except he was SO pi$$ed he couldn't pronounce 'sand rail' and the nearest he could manage was what sounded like 'Sandra'......and the name was born So there you go....my first ever car to be given a proper name and it was done under the addled haze & late night drunken ramblings of an Irish nutball.

Here's that website btw - www.lextreme.comI found it again last night, when someone suggested a Lexus V8 in that V8 thread I put up. I'd thought before they seem like a great engine, but there's a boy on a capri site putting one into a Capri, and it looks like a hell of a lot of work.

I know this may sound biased.....but I can honestly now say that this car is the best thing on four wheels if you're looking for a 'smiles per mile' vehicle!! Rather than the mile or so trips I ran at the gathering (the first time I'd had the car on the road properly) this was the first proper drive in the Fugitive. It was AWESOME! I had to run HTW back home from Area52 and we both thought it would be a laugh to take the Fugitive. A round trip of approx 40 miles. The most I'd have ever driven this car. Before I go any further, please note that I am sat here aching all over, I have a VERY sore coccyx, sore knee, partially deaf in one ear, wind blown and only just starting to warm up.....but the grin inducing factor of this car is only just becoming apparent. ;D Yes it is very uncomfortable (to be addressed) very windy (all part of the fun) and very cold once the sun goes down.....but I just want to get back out there and drive some more. I am sure HTW will be able to verify/clarify/back-up what I'm saying? A couple of miles is fun, for sure, but get a few more miles under your belt....a few more bugs in your face and some extra cramp in your butt cheeks from the un-cushioned seats and you really start to 'get' this car. Epic is an understatement! Approx 6 miles into the journey and the car starts running like poo. Severe lack of power. My guess of 2 cylinders down is confirmed when we pull into a petrol station and discover one half of the throttle linkage is hanging off! Some epic bodgery from HTW with a wire food wrap 'thing' and we have 4 cylinders again. Excelleent. The rest of the journey consists of cold hands, cold ears, sore butts, achy legs.....but grins that defy belief! HTW also now wants a Fugitive. A compliment indeed! It's getting colder, it's getting darker yet I am already planning 'alternative' routes home in order to get more time behind the wheel. With my passenger safely delivered back to RR HQ, I set off home and really discover the true meaning of driving a car with no bodywork, no windscreen and no resemblance to a normal car. It's now dark, I am driving down 'Sally in the Woods' (anyone who knows the area will know what I mean) and I am gathering speed with no effort at all. Just awesome! Forget 200+bhp sports cars.....this is the most fun I've had behnid the wheel of a car on the road. Bends, dips, curves, straights....all tackled with a feeling of 'being there'. A raw and exciting experience which at 40 mph is amazing, but at 50-60mph is just beyond belief! I can't wait to clock up more mileage in this thing. The word tactile was invented for this car....feedback from a car is one thing, but to feel the wind, the dust and bugs in this way is something else. You have to be there to understand. Driving it at night is just off the scale - especially at speed! Anyone who wants to understand what I mean....come to Bristol and I'll take you out for a drive (ANY excuse!) - only then you'll understand what I am on about. Thanks again to HTW for being part of such an epic trip (which would be simply dropping him home in any other car) and thank you to UVA for bringing such a great car to the UK. I'm in love.....and that's even before I've stripped it down and built it to be how I want. Happy days Roll on mid-October.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

I can't wait till Oct now! Need to plan some class roads round Derry for you although Fermanagh I assume wil have some great roads. YOU can't wait?? How do you think I feel? ;D ;D I'm expecting some epic roads from you guys....but make sure you've got some good warm & waterproof clothing! Tonight was a blast, but also cold and only 40 miles. I'm going to be covering 800+ miles at least so need to sort clothing and comfort before I think of booking any ferries. EDIT: I thought she was called Sandra now The car is called Sandra (thanks to your brother) but I still lapse back into calling it 'car' 'fugitive' or 'buggy' because I've never had a name for a car before and I've never actually ever seen cars as a 'she'! It'll come in time I'm sure?

Have you told the other half yet Bruce? As soon as I got back from the Gathering the V5 was waiting in an envelope.....so I opened it and showed her the log book. I figured there was no point in hiding it any longer and after such an epic weekend it just felt like the right time to tell her. Her reaction? "Sounds quite cool....so when do I get to see it?" Gotta love a girl like that! ;D After the drive tonight I turned up at the house in it rather than take it back to Area52.....she came out to take a closer look. She climbed into the drivers seat. She grinned. Priceless.

We're the Irish ones, of course we have warm, waterproof clothes! Comfort = a cushion on the seat. You could do a Billy Connelly and not wear anything, although on second thought that would not be pleasant for you or any one else for that matter.

Fugitive sounds absolutely awesome, I've quite liked them for ages and now feel the urge to go and buy one (building one seems to be somewhat implausable thanks to new sva tests:rolls eyes: ) I need no bodywork, deafness, cold, wet and immense driving in my life!

I spent half of sunday at the gathering sat on your sofa, surrounded on three sides by your vehicles, and I was struggling to find a way to convince myself that I didn't want any of them.. The rail especially! How many people checked ebay when they got home? I know I did ;D
