Correct - although mine is of the 'naked' varitey   I certainly never expected to be coming home with one of these when I headed out for the V8 this morning  I need to get if off the drive before the GF arrives home tomorrow.  I think I'm going to be getting 'creative' with the space down at Area52 in order to squeeze it in..... ;D I know nothing about VW's! I know nothing about air cooled engines, but meh.....I just had to have one! |

v8 sandrail ftw gonna get wet in brizzle tho On the journey home I could see a V8 in the rear mirror and a sandrail out the rear screen and wondered what the two would be like together. If I do ever V8 the thing (if I do, it won't be for quite a while!) it'll be a Rover V8 because I can source them easily enough - in fact I have a spare one kicking around in my mates garage in Bournemouth! Lexus V8 in the Delica first and that's only after completing the Rascal. |

Just got to get a wheelarch bracket welded (snapped today) and get the engine running right (keeps stalling) and I'm good to go. Plans: Design and make a custom hidden/low profile tow bar for the big Delica and design a new A-frame to reach up to the (very high) Delica tow bar. Both will be coming to the Gathering |

Oh yeah..... lol... I had one of these a few years back. more fun than.. (well, ok, its not, but close...)
Time to start looking throgh the photos (real ones!) for proof.
Which reminds me, If you can bring two, shall I hitch Mayday to the back of the scorpio? seems only fair.Whats the max weight for an unbraked trailer?

What CC engine is it in the sandrail?
Where abouts are you in Bristol? If you want a hand, and you're nearby, I might be about tomorrow and of use for helping lift an engine, although I'm only small and my van has about a fivers worth of fuel in it, so I'm probably not that much use at all...

You're gonna have to now! Unbraked is 750kg....so you're probable OK with Mayday seeing as most of the bodywork was red oxide before you even started! Might be worth getting her weighed to be sure though? I'm going to connect the rear lights of the sandrail to a plug so I can just put a connecting lead between the Delica and the buggy....built in trailer board lights FTW! Just velcro the Deli reg plate over the buggy plate....job done! |

woot! 670kg according to the coalmans' weighbridge. I'll knock up an A frame and scare up a towball kit (I have a mk3 gran estate with a towhitch.. whats the betting it will fit?)

I'm in St George, the unit is in Bedminster/Ashton (just off Winterstoke Rd) but I am happy to collect you/drop you back if you're not too far away?? Lots of tea and biscuits in exchange for help. Guided tour of Area52 etc..... Tempting offer huh? Let me know - it would be great to meet you. I might be able to convince Grunty to come down from Gloucester and I am sure I could rustle up a feww more people and we could have a short notice/spontaneous meet on the cards. WINNAR!!! |
