....which happened to be in Kettering (not exactly around the corner) Some time later I have 4 litres of fine Japanese V8 (& gearbox) loaded in the back of the Delica: "Don't forget the wiring loom" says the seller "but it's still attached to the engine" I respond "no, no.... this wiring loom" he replies pointing to a dark corner of the garage "I might need a hand getting it in your van" He wasn't kidding! It turns out he'd cut the floorpan/bulhead away in order to remove the complete loom....including countless (and I do mean a helluva LOT!) of ECU's, relays, fuse boxes....even half the dashboard still attached! Turns out he was going to fit this engine into a 'project vehicle that never happened' but figured it best to remove everything and throw out what's not needed at a later date. You don't get anywhere near the size/bulk/mass/amount of it in this shot....but wait till I get it laid out on the drive tomorrow....it's a MONSTER of a loom! Not bad for £300 I thought (only 90,000 miles FSH with all documents to prove it!) So where is this going to be going?? Well, you see that vehicle in my sig pic? ;D ;D

Oh yes....and seeing as I was out and about anyway, I decided to come back to Bristol via Stafford (go figure) where I treated myself to something else.
Any guesses??

Modern looms never cease to amaze me with their bulk. I can't believe you're fitting a V8 to a horse...mental

Sorry Joe, Rascal is staying standard engine wise. It's tempting I'll admit, but alas, the V8 is destined for the horse Delica ;D I'll not be doing anything unitl after the gathering and also after the Rascal is finished (which won't be in time for the gathering ) Oh yes....and seeing as I was out and about anyway, I decided to come back to Bristol via Stafford (go figure) where I treated myself to something else. Any guesses?? So anyone wanna have a guess??

Hoping I can hide it before she comes home tomorrow! (need to try and get it down to Area52 first thing) It's not so much a car as four wheels, loosely held together with some metal! ;D I'd been thinking about a 'certain type' of car for a while now and just happened to have a guys number who just happened to be selling one. He'd texted me his details a few weeks back when I was just enquiring out of curiosity. I'd completely forgotten that I had the number. While loading the engine into the Delica, I had one of those 'while I'm out & about' kinda thoughts......so I rang the number on the off chance and found myself heading towards Stafford (opposite way to home!) As fate would have it - the 'vehicle' came with its own A-frame. "it must be fate" I thought to myself.....so struck a deal and hooked it on the back of the Delica. I seriously only went out for the engine and somehow managed to come back with a new 'car' as well LOL!! Becuase I hadn't planned to view....let alone buy 'said vehicle' I wasn't exactly prepared....so had to get myself to the nearest auto factors (unlucky for me it was Halfrauds) and had to part with THIRTY POUNDS for a trailer board! Having this 'thing' trawling behind my Delica I figured it best to be as 'legit' as possible seeing as the Deli & new car stand out somehwhat! So there you go....some info into my 400 mile day

am I the only one wondering how you got that into that aircraft that is the delica? If you mean the engine....it was hoiked in with the aid of an engine crane, brute force and some Hail Mary's It wasn't as stright forward as I'd like though because the floor is so damn high up. We had to get creative with the angles of the hoist, some levers, an old pallet and lots of lifting/heaving and foul language. I've yet to work out how to get it out yet. I think I'll be the only one down at Area52 tomorrow.....so it looks like it might be living in the back of the motor for most of the week I'm not stupid enough to try and remove something like that on my own.....certainly not after the trouble it took two of us to get it in there! Oh well.....
