Sadly my plan not to wash the ZS for it's major show debut failed when as soon as it went onto the CPUK stand hordes of club members descended on it with every cleaning product known to man! Toothbrushes for the wheels - good grief. Oh well.
Of more import was what did I spot nearby to our stand. Well we are opposite the 2CV club who are doing the rural french garage theme again with a beaten up 2CV van. Also a lovely beige Diane. Simca club next door showing a lovely 1500 estate, the last one in the UK, a MINT Talbot samba (!!) and a fantastic orange Alpine!
Smooched round the apline club, yoghurt spilling cars but no surprise. Watched a guy trailering a Mk 1 Mexico in rally trim. Seeing Mk 1's suddenly is always a shock. Done nicely they have massive presence and charisma and sound sooooooo good.
Saw an elderly gent in a minty Mk 3 corty, driving it with cotton gloves on and clingfilm over the tyres (oh dear lord)
Diagonally from us is a whole stand of chopped and slammed 50's yank cars, oooh mama
OK so the show is obviously packed with over polished ego wagons with every original rivit in place but also bustin at the seams with damn cool motors of a solid retro type.
Get on down. See you on the stand on Saturday!

Sounds like a good show. I appreciate concours but not when you get chucked out for having a fly in your radiator fin! Just stupid.

My Stag will be near concourse one day but I shall actually use it! And with no clingfilm on the d**n tyres! Cannot wait 'til Sunday. I'll be carting the digi-cam around. I'm

I'm looking forward to this show, but it gets more expensive every year. I was going to book online with the same a massive £2 offer, when you get to the end of the process they tell you that ever transaction is subject to a £1 admin fee some saving

i heard a story about that car, apparently, he won a prize with it, and was asked to bring it up to the judges area to be awared. so he spent 30 minutes loading it up onto a trailer, to take it all of about 200m, to accept the award

Now I'll dote on my Stag when it's done. I'll even polish it and everything. But whoooaa there! This guy is extreme. The guys I look up to at concours are the rare few that actually use their cars - even if only rarely. I'll definitely be using the Stag. That's what it's meant for! I'm

Don't get me wrong, i spend alot of time cleaning my car (when you can't drive it, what else are you gonna do?), but with my green car i'm not gonna wax it as much, coz i think i waxed the red thing too much, but i'd never want it to sit around not used - i just like shiney red

I'm full of admiration for the owner of that RS. I could never be him, bit I'm impressed. Did you notice the valves are lined up with the tyre labels? That's attention to detail. I feel good knowing that there's some people like him in the classic car scene....but I'm pleased we're not all like him too.
