Right then whats everybodys favorite older Military vehicle. I know most like the classic WW2 Willys MB Jeep (and built under license by Ford and ...after WW2 by Hotchkiss in France from 1955 to 1975 for French Army). Also know most enjoy Land Rovers (Me included). But for me my two favorite Military 'Soft Skin Classics' are these: Austin Champ / FV1801 ('Champ' was going to be commercial name but just stuck with military as well) Austin Champ In service during 1950's and 60's Complete with Rolls Royce B40 engine (Civilain version had Austin A90 engine). My Father from his military days says how much more refined and faster than a Land Rover they were at the time. After demob a few were modified Jensen Hard top option This is best ...modified with roll cage, Bucket seats and Chrome 8-Spokes Another Favourite of mine is the MUTT M151 (inc M151A1 & M151A2). MUTT stands for Military Utility Tactical Truck. M151 M151A2 ('A2' has bigger indicators set into wings/fenders) These 151's have been used by many a country world wide and development work started in the 50's. Buy the 60's many were in use by US in Vietnam. It is the modern day equivalent of WW2 'Jeep'.

Also (when space permits) I hope to be getting one of these: BSA M20, one of the most common Despatch rider bikes of World War 2 (also 'cause my dad ran an ex- WW2 one as every day transport in the 1970's).

And now for some Armour My Favourite Tank has got to be the Centurion Tank (Yes the one with the Meteor/de-tuned Merlin Engine) due to it's long service (1945 to present day...just ;D as a BARV) Orignally designed during WW2 as the A41: It missed action by a few days at the end of the war in 1945 But 5 are still in use as BARV's (Beach Armoured Recovery Vehicle) These vehicles with there special high hull are used for recovery of vehicles that get stuck when coming ashore off landing craft, also for pushing 'beached' Landing craft back into deeper water. 1945 - 2005 ...not a bad record of service

Believe it or not but certain people in the British military wanted to see how a Centurion ('A41' First version) would fair against a TigerII but the war ended before a situation could develop

Oh, and whilst I`m on German WWII hardware. The infamous `88`. ;D And its usual partner, the SdKfz 7. ;D

I used to run the UK's number 1 remote controlled RC tank site. Bit of random information there There was more than one?! Not so keen on the shooty-shooty stuff, but I do like the old miltary trucks and plant. Reckon it must have been interesting round my way years ago where there were many USAF bases during WWII, all that war-surplus stuff floating about.
