Plenty of examples out there of both people being given discounts and advised to save a classic rather than scrap it and plenty more of people haggling beyond the schemes basics. Some have even been reported on this very forum.
The scheme was designed to sell more cars and float the industry, it's done this better than expected. Profit has been made in some places yes, but jobs have also been saved in others.
The above is yet more cases of forming sweeping opinions without conducting any research what-so-ever. This is a level of intelligence and reasoning that doesn't need insulting.
The environmental hypocrisy IS wrong, the favouritism toward the car industry IS wrong, encouraging finance based consumerism IS wrong. The gaping holes in these schemes integrity are big enough, they do not need clouding over with more presumptuous nonsense.

There you go, it makes me start to wonder just how much profit is in some cars, given some dealerships are offering up to 5 grand....

not too much for the dealers, the manufacturer or importer will be offering them cheaper to the dealer, thats why some can offer cheaper than list price.
and some franchises can't give discount.
by order of the manufacturer.

I still think it would be money better spent if they put the government's donation of £1000 for each car sold towards the boys in the army to pay for better equipment which saves their life's rather then a new car which you don't really need...

Don't agree with the fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan....and I have family and friends out there rollin' deep. I think if they have to do that they should have moar equipment, and at the moment as you say, they need MOAR helicopters. So I agree.

Your right, They shouldn't be there but they don't have much choice, so the government should be helping them more with the fundings for the helicopoters and gear rather the new cars. Anyhoo starting to go a bit of O/T here...
