This is one of my favourite Ur-Q pics, it's just so "eighties"... and here's another, equally cool, desktop pic:

From the names on the door, I think it's Stig Blomqvist driving the Shorty Q...

Arent' they fans for the rear-mounted rad or something? can't really find a decent pic.... Yup, they put the rad right at the back in a vain attempt to even up the weight distribution. I had a really good look round one at the Autosport show this year. I'll see if I got a pic of it.

Yeah the audi had rear mounted fans and radiator, infact anything that they could find went back there. It was all in a vain attempt to the the weight balance of the car back after fitting a massive engine infront of the front wheels!

It was all in a vain attempt to the the weight balance of the car back after fitting a massive engine infront of the front wheels! J Not to mention Chopping 12" out of the wheelbase to start with, Using an 80 Saloon front end and doors rather than the Coupe front...... The rake of the screen is different, more upright on the saloon. The Drysump tanks, oil coolers, radiators, fuel tanks etc were all put in the back, to try and stop it understeering. There is a definate knack to driving a Quattro, and it involves unsettling the car to 4 wheel drift it, hence the wonderful Rorhl video of him dancing on the pedals ;D There are a couple of guys on the S2 Forum that are doing a proper replica....... Saloon Front and Coupe Rear ;D with a spec way past RS2...... Think 400hp ;D Lighter weight, better weight distribution etc...... should be fun ;D Cheers Dom

cr500doom in da house: There are a couple of guys on the S2 Forum that are doing a proper replica
There's a guy (my age) working at the local Saab/Opel dealer that inherrited a load of cash when the Audi "Shorty" Quattro was new, he drove down to the main Porsche/Audi dealer at Lindhagensplan in Stockholm and orderd up a red with black leather Recaro upholstery and delete options on air con, power windows, power locks, when he picked up the car he also picked up 3 sets of white OZ wheels, one skinny snow tires, one tarmac type cut slicks and a set of street radials. This car has some 200.000km on the odo and is driven winter & summer, it's at most Porsche/Audi meets in Scandinavia and I see him every now and then with an ear to ear smile cruising down the road in that monster.....
