Beast As i don't have 150K I'm trying to make my own ;D Does anyone have any more info on the Bypass valve or know whether it was a electronically or mechanically controlled....which i think is more likely. Info seems to be thin on the ground . Is there a museum in the UK with one? David Sutton had one but I think it got sold off

I'm trying to make my own What?! More info please... I thought I would be a good idea for my Uni final year project...So far its been more research, sat on CAD, too much thinking or with my head stuck in a text book, trying to prove which method would work best etc. The base is a Toyota 4AGZE, at the moment it's an engine in a Corolla with various bits iv been collecting. I know it won't be running between now and hand in time but I'm determined to draw up the system for uni then actually make it work over the summer for some fun at Mallory ;D.

Sounds interesting. Forgive my ignorance, but... you're making a replica Lancia Delta S4 using a Toyota engine? How will that work?

Not exact replica, just roughly based on the same principles.
I wouldn't mind doing a replica engine in a Fiat 131 tho...mmm

It was a mechanical unit moved using boost pressure, but controlled using solenoids, have you seen this picture - Ive got some more somewhere, it's a barrel valve I know that much! J

I was at a motor show in Manchester 2 weekend ago. They had an S4 replica there that someone was making. Looked like a centre section from a Delta with welded on steel frames either end.
It had and engine, biox and diffs in, but i'm not sure what types.
Interesting and looked fairly like an S4.
I've also seen a Talbot Sunbeam that someone was part way through making into an S4 replica. Didnt look a mile off...
