The Race to the North was spot-on: it could've been an hour-long programme on its own. I especially loved Tornado and the Vincent.
My rhetorical question to the missus was that in 1948 Britain produced the world's fastest car and bike, and the same year also saw the launch of the Landie, Minor and the BSA Bantam. So, later on, where did it all go wrong?

The whole thing kind of annoyed me. I thought the stig was just one person tbh as he seems (to me at least) to have a rather unique driving style/line.
I get Schumacher being there to drive the FXX, but woulda peferred it to have Schumacher on as himself driving the FXX, lol.

I always thought the appeal of the Stig was that his anonymity meant they could use different drivers and viewers wouldn't show personal bias towards the results. So are we now going to get a lot of internet "blah blah the Lambo/Porsche/Aston etc is faster but Schumacher works for Ferrari so wont push them as hard blah blah sign this petition, fake patina sucks blah blah" I was totally underwhelmed by the unveiling and thought it wasted time, maybe the rest of the country was picking their jaws up off the living room I dunno. That combined with it seeming the Stig has been a variety of drivers made the segment more boring and falsely sensational than 'Star in a reasonably priced car' something I thought until now impossible. It contrasted totally with how brilliant the race was. Schumacher is not the Stig. Never has been. Hence the 'comedy' SIRPC driving to demonstrate that he wasn't...
