Ive decided i want to do some designs on the side of the kitten - somthing old skool. ive been looking for inspiration and come up with: and i came up with: ( i hope you don't mind me using your logo - let me do if you don't want me to use it.) i was thinking it will probably be stenciled on using matte / stain black / dark brown spray paint. I'm still not decided as to what i want so i thought i would get your opinions - and feel free to do your own! i would lvoe to see what other people come up with - and if i like it your design will end up on the side of my car! i like the idea of one like the 1275gt (use thick coachline tape to do the black stripes) with 'Retro-Rides' stenciled in instead of 'mini 1275GT' here is a picture of the car with no decals - if anyone wants to have a go. cheers nick

I'm working on some new rims atm, the original skinny 10" in black with little chrome hubcaps on the front.. i can then slam it to about 2-3" off the floor at the front, and for the rear... same rims but banded 2" to make them deep dish (have located a set on the bay, and i want them so bad! (please no1 bid against me!)) unfortunatly i cant lower the back, huge problems with the leafsprings, axel is underthem so its not as easy as just putting in spacers, and there isnt a way to put the axel about and keep the handbrake..... but ill find a way - until then it will be rake i guess!
Hoodride type? example? cheers

You know what? I'm looking at that photo and wondering if there's some way (using iron filings?) that you can give the bodywork a really rusted patina. That would REALLY confuse some people There's a race bug that has a fibreglass front end, patina'd in this way to match the rest of the bodywork, someone must know more...

hoodride stencils are rather damn cool - but would they look right on it... as its not a bug and its not all that ratty. although, might go nicely on the back door. was considering a stenciled iron cross on the back door, in a red oxide kinda finish. the rear susspension is a pain. i will manage to slam the back end eventually. i don't know how it will look with rake susspension with the back that high... so its going to have to come down.
haha yea not to keen on blue and erm, 'caramel' as the book calls it!
my dad did some welding next to it and didnt cover up one of the rear corners very well..... was covered in little dots, was hopeing they would rust and leave rusty stains running down from them. but i think they where just burns... after a while in the rain no luck so i tecut them off lol.

hoodride isnt volkswagen exclusive. Nor is it solely for ratty cars. Its up to you and what you wanna do with it - personally i think it would work though.

kitten written down the side of your car in carrera style would look well cool. not really knowing the axle set up, could you not seat the axle in the same position above the spring?this shoud keep the handbrake the same, and lower the car a couple of inches. now tell me why that wont work ;D

haha that was my intentions but the cable runs through peices on the botom of the axle, to a lever on the back plate.... all of which would need re arangeing. don't think i havent tried. I'm contemplating a BMC axel, or maybe a robin one (different rear brakes)
i did contemplate the kitten idea, but ppl who don't know wat it is might think I'm abit camp with kitten written down my car lol. as cool as it would be!

I reckon Slam the curse word on the front end then make\steal\borrow some J style black arches you know the ones with the insets for rivits or screws, Slap them on the back with some Wide ass deep dished wheels, then take it in a muddy field and get it dirty ----- There job done no need for stencils, paint, stickers just a Kick ass looking ride I hope

Would love to see Retro-Rides-cult spread via the medium of stencils/decals on cars

personally, i'd leave the rear at that height - get the front scraping the front, RR logo down the side as your first photoshop did...maybe, this color, i think it is called Sandglow Yellow. hmm, Scimitar drivetrain, in the SE5 my dad's got the transmission tunnel is quite big, would this be a problem fitting it into the Kitten? Really taking to the idea now, loving the idea of two twin pipes spouting out the back.

I'm keeping it the nasty colour it already is lol. but yea I'm inclined to get the new wheels on there (lets hope i win these fat little 10s on ebay, 100veiws and 3 days left.. might end up paying a fair bit but it will be worth it) drop the front, RR stenciled on the side, a hoodride stencil on the back door, and maybe do all the crome black, with a rusty iron cross in the middle of the grill? anyone know where i can get a nicely cut steel iron cross from? have been trying to cut one my self - not easy, will tray again soon.
as for the se5: yea the tunnes pretty big, but i would remove all the fibreglass from inside under the bonnet, and most of the bulkhead and tunnel leaving me with just 3 sides of the drivers pedal box. might even have to move the pedal box back. before i start that though i must get the road car finish... i have an ex race 750 reliant engine in the garage.... awaiting a rebuild into an 850... with about 60hp.
oh yea, and theres the small matter of my driving test!!! failed with 2 minors and a mojor.. plums. oh well will retake soon - got to have the kitten on the road ready for then! ahhh.
