OOh you little Bobby Dazzler ;D I concur with all of the above, and although overall turn out was dented by the threat of damp, unless you were there you'd never have believed it stayed dry from start to finish of the track action. That's not to say that a certain BMW driver didn't find the tarmac disagreeable, instead opting for a rather expensive detour into the tyre wall. Not witnessed directly by the RR contingent but a lot of sympathetic winces and oohs as the tale was recalled by many throughout the day. There was some brilliant driving/driver/cars going round, and the track format was great for spectating [we'll have to work on a rr session in the future]. As the pictures show there was something for everyone, but I'll let Bruce divulge more when he gets his tea down him. So I don't tread on his [much more professional photography shoes] I'll fill in the blanks once he's posted Great to finally put some faces to the names on here, and I look forward to sharing a few beers with some more of you at the pod next month. Let's get some organising on the camping front for that this week. Cheers for the heads up on this day Dave, but I now hold you fully responsible for the massive horn [and my four hour internet trawl since returning home] for a suitable track day project. cracking set of pics, mate.....I adore kat capris Funny you should say that Edd - Kat kits got quite a lot of discussion (all positive) after we all clapped eyes on that Cappa The day was celebrating 40yrs of the Capri - a few parade laps with quite a few hundred Capri's took place after a couple of laps from this gorgeous Broadspeed Capri (one of two Broadspeed Capri's there today - photos of the 'Sister' one later) The Broadspeed Capri. The noise was just awesome! ....did I say how amazing the noise was? EPIC sounds I tell you.... Tickford Capri was mint and very lovely in that typical 80's way. This shot sums up the diversity of the Capri's that were there (couldn't post up all the different ones - there were hundreds!) This bonkers pick-up deserved a place amongst the memorable ones though. Rally Capri was just beautiful. Bubble arches shouldn't work on a Capri. They do. 'Rossa kitted Capri was just 2 tones of plastic, 250% of madness and 20 leagues of wrongness....this was its best side! Just wait to see the other photos of it!! Bumhats!! It was awful here until about 2 so I chickened out and spent some time welding the Triumph..
Wish i had taken the risk now, ho well hindsight again!!

Great photos.....my fave is the R5 Turbo2....AWESOME! I squealed like a little kid when I saw it go past on the track. Gutted I didn't get any photos of it. There were loads of great cars I spotted out, but by the time I got my camera & got back to the paddock a lot of them had gone! Gutted because I wanted a really good nose around them. Saw your Panda.....couldn't help but notice the 'back' on it. What's that all about? Looked cool....

Glad you all had a good day It was chucking down when I woke up this morning.....proper bad 'I don't want to go out in that' kinda weather. By the time I finished my call out things had improved a little and by the time I got to the Combe - it was pretty dry luckily. Really glad I went - track action was great, paddock had some uber cars and company was just amazing.....sorry to have missed you Alan.

I am so, so, so gutted I couldn't get to this. Citroen ran its wheel bearing, which meant in turn that I couldn't get to Wales to get the Volvo. Stupid C4.

Sorry you couldn't make it - have some more trackside shots to ease the pain (paddock shots will have to wait until morning) Lovely 190 Cossie being used as it was intended Just for Cobblers - this Lupo did pretty well considering what it was running against! Marcos looked the part This MGB was fast.....VERY fast and the owner knew how to drive it too....EPIC retro racing! 240Z was also very fast and very well driven. Stance was perfect, reg plate just too cool and this was one motor that got a lot of respect. 200% WIN all round.... Mk2 Mexico battles E30 M3. Great to watch This Mk3 RWD track car was an absolute weapon. Easily the fastest car out there today. So well set-up, it took the course with ease while lapping everything in sight. It's for sale, Morgs wanted to buy it but didn't have the stomach to ask how much! This Mk2 Jag was a legend. Battled with an R32 Golf the whole way.....and held it's own lap after lap. Golf had the edge in the corners, but didn't stand a chance on the straights. One of the highlights......for a few hours after you could still hear people saying "did you see the Jag against the Golf" etc.... Trig's Mk1 in action. Looks fantastic at speed.... RWD Cossie powered Fezzer was very fast but each successive lap saw more smoke coming from the exhaust. Think the turbo was on it's way out? Good to watch it in action though... I've saved the best for last. This T4 (standard mechanicals) was truly entertaining. OK so it was one of the slowest vehicles out there, but what he lacked in power/speed he made up for in smoke. He had it sideways/smoking on every bend and was having the time of his life. That's what its all about. LEGEND! My damn camera battery died just as he did his best slide. GUTTED! He got a round of applause from most of the spectators for his sheer entertainment. Tomorrow I'll get the paddock shots up.....

Next lot of pics - that lovely Broadspeed Capri. So nice it deserved its own dedicated slot: Purposeful looking car.... ....whichever way you view it FAT RUBBER FTW!! You want dish? You got it. Aluminium tape over weights - keeps the weights in place, but also gives a cleaner look...Wheel whores dine out. You looking at me? That's one menacing looking car - but beautiful at the same time. Great shots there Mystery Machine I didnt get there til late - around half twelve, and didnt get a chance to meet/catch up with anyone Had a really good time though, a little disappointed by the low turn out (compared to last year), but for a tenner you cant complain. We nearly bailed due to the rain, but as we got close it dryed up and stayed dry the whole time we were there Its always great to see retros out on track giving it some. That Datsun was spot-on, and that V8 MG is bonkers. There was tonnes of gorgous metal in the paddack as well, and my mate has decided he's going to buy a Capri now - if he can convince his g/f. Hopefully i'll be more organised for the next meet/show.

Awesome shots, gutted I couldn't make it, I was going to offer the camper as a shelter come diner for the day but it was SWMBO Grandparents 60th wedding anniversary, card from the Queen and everything.....next year perhaps ;D Was it Vince Woodman peddling the Broadspeed? They've done a few races at Combe with it and some lunch time demo laps over the years

great shots/commentary MM was good to meet you, charlaton & si once again. i didn't find the rr stand though for some reason.... lol but i did spot warnzee driving through the gate up there again friday for trig's track day so hope the weather is a bit better ;D looking forward to more pics...... ;D

Great pics, looks like it was a great day! Apologies for not coming. Had to abort my attempt after about 2 miles My lack of heater/demister made sure I couldn't see a thing. I couldn't open the windows, because the rain was so heavy. Full harnesses meant I couldn't even reach the screen to wipe it! All part of the learning curve of running a retro.

I had a good day all told.. was a bit annoyed about the turn out after we had such a positive thread on the run up to it. Particularly as I stood for 3 hours in the cold (and rain) by the gate with the entry passes waiting for more people*...... I also was a bit annoyed that my cars suspension doesn't feel right at the moment, so I decided against taking my car out. That having been said, I got some nice photos (although there is another sob story with these that I won't go into) and most importantly had a good time hanging out with everyone. Particularly nice to see DatsunCherry again and get a good conversation with Paul H (who I usually only get a passing conversation with).. and good to meet Morgs.. Bruce and Si I probably see far too much of anyway Will be there for sure next year, hopefully booked up earlier and with a bigger stand. I know one person had a worse day than me for sure and that was Darren, the owner of the rather marvelous Triumph Dolomite with a Turbo charged Cosworth engine, managed to split his air filter which in turn lunched his rollerbearing turbo,.. and the run he did get out was a bit limited by the noise restricter he had because he was 1dB over the noise limit ... video on youtube (thing sounds like an aircraft taking off!) Hope to see you out again this summer Darren! *Not an entire waste as I got to know the gate staff and see how a professional gate is run,.. notes were made for RR Gathering
