We were planning to head to Plymouth Volksfest this year and decided to break the drive up with a mini holiday either side in Dorset, theres plenty of motoring lovelies and a few cheesy snaps thrown in for good measure so here goes...... Avoiding the motorways and the easy M4/M5 route to the South West we hit the A303 and did the tourist thing at Stonehenge having never actually stopped before A few more winding roads later we pitched up at a site near Lyme Regis for a couple of days Spending the next morning soaking up the sun When we got back to the carpark it was scattered with some classics A lunch break at the River Cottage Canteen revealed an automobilia collection up the road, sadly it was closed but that didn't stop us having a poke round As we left we heard a tooting and this shot past Further up the road and with icecreams in hand we watched the trams go past Before a taste session at at the local cider shop

Bank Holiday Monday dawned damp so we crammed the junk back inside and after a photocall at the Tamar Bridge... ....headed back Dorset way.... ....to a really nice site near Corfe Castle a working farm with rusty tractors and hidden at the back of a barn We decided to leave the camper at the pitch and take a long walk, the castle is a mile away so we hiked up to the village and then the castle The steam railway is nearby too and provided some smokey fun Back at camp for our last evening we BBQ'd and settled in for a night of kerplunk.......travel kerplunk The weather had to end soon and with howling gales and driving rain we packed up to come home, taking the Sandback ferry and with a stop off to see family in Bournemouth we made for home. THE ENDPS, we've got a few things to sort out today before packing up and heading for a campsite near us for another show over the weekend

Great story! I was meant to be going to Plymfest but couldn't stretch to it - my friends went there instead of RTTS. Looks like it was a really good event!

Lovely set of pictures! Sounds like a really nice relaxing holiday to me.
It seems that car park in Lyme Regis is a magnet for retros, every time I've been there it's been glorious weather, and always 2 or 3 interesting motors in there too.
