Well if it is still too rich, it must have been like sooooo so so so so so so mega rich before!
I wound the mixture screw in by at least 3 - 4 turns. To me, that is a lot!
Just to confirm, clockwise, i.e. in, is leaner, and anticlockwise, i.s. out, is richer?!?!?

As for the plugs, I do need to get a suitable socket.
What size is it, i am assuming 15 or 16?!? I have a 17 that is too big, and a 14 that is too small!

well looking back at previous posts, Jrevillug said that black and wet ment oil.
The plugs were black and wet... so actually, it is just burning oil, hence why adjusting the carb has not made any difference?!

thems not overly wet, thats just super super rich just like mine is too. i think these webers are ridiculous, mine is screwed right in and it still starts on zero choke and does the worse end of 20-25mpg. soon as i cna get a decent carb i'll be onto it. this has been rebuilt twice and set up i don't know how many times and its never worked well.

try fitting smaller main jet if it is too rich,,,,adjusting the idle jet screw will make no difference to its driving mixture only the mixture at idle, and maybe a hundred rpm above idle
I think as standard the weber replacement is virtually perfectly matched to the 136 engine but will run slightly rich on the smaller 5 port engines so try a smaller main jet like a 100 instead of a 105 on the primary choke
it is critical that the float level is set correctly before any other adjustments are made
i'd say that its is not burning the mixture fully due to oil leakage past the rings oil smoke when on overrun indicates the inlet valve seals oil smoke under load is the rings usualy

Sod it, I can't be bothered to faff around with this too much, Plus I might have an alternative use for this engine.
Anyone got a solid 136 engine from anything?
