For those interested paypal said this: From amount £19.82 GBP To amount $29.91 USD Exchange rate: 1 GBP = 1.50908 USD
They have lots of other stereo as well on similar theme, normal sized DIN if interested. Less cool of course....

Damn right.. fits cars made before the eighties without hacking the dash up retro looks but modern function, and cheap as chips to boot. I just hope it sounds decent. Can always hack some lineouts into it if it doesnt though (hey, if we are lucky it might have some anyway!)

I doubt they will come with lineouts, but if anyone wants them adding I can do it, but it'll be approx £20 to do which doubles the price!
I wouldn't expect great sound quality, but there is no point having an amazing amp driving a pair of 1981 Ford Cracklemasters
I think the main issue is going to be navigating XGb of music with basically no display at all!
If you only have 2 or 3 albums then no problem, but I've become accustomed to having 25gb of music in my car at any one time.

good point. personally, I don't try to pick songs in the car - I leave it on random all the time. Which makes me hope this has random. especially now I found a centre console for a mk3 tina with the dinD radio still in it.

Is it definitely the old DIN size? It's not just a retro looking version for DIN E?

I just compared the dimensions given on the link with an actual 1970s din D 2 knob radio... It is the same size ;D

the pic links shows the rear of the unit and the wiring diagram (upside down) can see there are no pre outs, and just 2 speaker outs, but I'm sure it would be easy enough to make? (any one got a circuit diagram?? lol) or buy some of those speaker to rca converter things if you wanted to run an amp and more speakers ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) looks great for someone wanting a simple setup, and in morrisons supermarket you can get a sandisk 4gb usb stick for under a tenner! (there about 18 quid in maplin)

For pre-outs you just need to attenuate the signal, to take it from the 8 volts peak or so down to approx 2 volts, while keeping a bit of load on the amp itself to keep it in check.
This could be achieved with 3 resistors per channel forming a potential divider.
I'd use around a 16 ohm, 10w wirewound to load the amp, and then a 4.7k and 1k ohm resistor to do the attenuating, like so:
Speaker.+.------------------- ...............|............| ...............|...........|4| ..............|.|..........|7| ..............|1|..........|0| ..............|6|..........|0| ..............|.|...........| ...............|............|-------.Output.+ ...............|............| ...............|...........|1| ...............|...........|0| ...............|...........|0| ...............|...........|0| ...............|............|. ...............|............| Speaker.-.--------------------------.Output.-
Forgive me for the poor diagram!

Cobblers means a wirewound resistor, like this one: ![](http://richartlabs.com/images/h2_7ohm.JPG) Cost under 50p. EDIT - smaller picture

I suppose you could wind your own resistor. for 16 ohms, you could use 0.8 miles of 16 gauge. good luck fitting that down the back of the dash, and finding a cable tie to go round it, lol.

Oh, and this way of doing things is a bit of a bodge. It wouldn't be that hard to open the unit and find the amplifier chip (bound to be a cheap class D chip in something like this) and just splice a couple of phono connectors on.

Well i got mine today, and its not quite how i expected, as it seems to only fit with the dash in the middle (radio, dashboard, then radio front and knobs). don't know how i am going to fit it to the camper but will make it fit ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Here's mine! ![](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/montythemole/IMG00463.jpg) Yellow and red fused. Red has 3A fuse and but goes to the ON button. The Yellow has a 0.5A (listed as 1A in manual) and goes to main board so presume the 'always live' feed. Green and Blue are the speakers out ones running to the balance part of the tuner dial. Black is earth/ground. Not seen this type of arrangement before, used to two wires out per speaker so presume the neg from each speaker I just connect to the black wire which is connected to the earth. Manual seems to state 25W per channel on 12V by the looks of things. ![](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/montythemole/IMG00464.jpg) ![](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/montythemole/IMG00471.jpg) ![](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/montythemole/_MediaCard_BlackBerry_pictures_IMG0.jpg)

Thanks for the detailed info, was worried I would have to go to my local chinese takeaway to get the instructions translated ;D (this is what I usually do, and as long as I buy something they will translate ![:))](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cheesy.png)

Looks like a lot of space in there. enough to mount a pair of phonos for line out. I seen somewhere that you can get line out from the volume control terminals. Think it was a case of soldering the wire.

Quite interested in one of these, anyone had a go with an SD card in it, and know if its any good for navigating through music?

IIRC, the common speaker earth arrangement makes it ideal to fit in an '80s Ford with a "joystick" balance / fader control - might be useful info for someone! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Anyone else fitted theirs yet? Had a few hours on the MGB, and after a bit if work on dodgy electrics (existing stereo used a speaker wire for the power!) seemed easier to swap the units over whilst I sorted. I retained the old stereo plate as this fitted the chrome bezel better and adds a retro ness. ![](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/montythemole/IMG00496.jpg) As has been said above, the length of the shaft bits is very long (possibly to allow fitment through a bit old wood dash?) so could do with using both sets of nuts to space the unit back and into the dash. Will have a go later on that. Powers up and seems OK. No aerial in car yet so cannot test radio. Stuck a SD in with two MP3 on and nothing happened. Is an old tempramental card so will try another one later. I'm liking the retro look, just need to somehow squeeze two speakers in the centre speaker box as don't want to cut the door cards. ![](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/montythemole/IMG00497.jpg) ![](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/montythemole/IMG00498.jpg)
