Would agree with all of the above, have taken the Dolly on the track and was very wary at first, especially when I pulled into the car park and it was all 911 and Elise/Exige with a Mk2 Golf and Impreza to break it up. Thought I would get laughed out the place but the marshalls loved it, the instructor had a massive grin on his face and the majority of other drivers thought it was hilarious watching me mix it with the them. I paid for a few laps with the instructor and it was so eye opening, after that most cars could not shake me off and my passenger was amazed at how much faster but safer and in control it felt. The Impreza was the least impressive on the day, the Mk2 was easily outstripping him and holding on well despite being wrong wheel drive. It was only on the two long straights anyone passed me, not helped by 4 speed box and 80/90 top speed. On some of the twisty sections I was overtaking Porsches and the odd Lotus. Here's mine hiding in the 911 line up! You can just see me all over the back of an Exige that was blue flagged shortly after:

This all looks like great fun and watching the track at PPC in the park (Mallory) on Saturday, I can't wait to get the 205 sorted What's the sketch with insurance though? Do you add it to your everyday insurance, or just buy it for the day?

I looked into insurance for my mine and the excess was more than the car is worth so I'm not going to bother. If you run a brand new GT3RS I would imagine it makes more sense!

If you get your road insurance with HiC or Adrien Flux (and some others) it normally includes trackday cover

I use mine on track - its a massive laugh, I just wish I earnt more so I could do more days! NEEEEEEAAAAAAAWWWWWW My car makes a massive 120bhp - what I don't have in straight line speed I make up for in the corners - massivley satisfying blasting past some 400bhp Subaru! I definatley think a retro car track day would be a massive win, I would definatley be up for some of that action! Would rather see a load of retro tin chug around at 60 than a load of Subarus at 100! Dosnt matter how fast you are as long as your having fun, and bring the right attitude. Listen to the instructions and you wont go wrong. Do it, you will not regret it. Oh and you can buy track day cover for the day - IIRC about £12 a day, will find out the insurer.

Dosnt matter who is at fault, each driver picks up their own tab for repairs.

Collisions on trackdays are, thankfully, very rare. The biggest risk seems to be someone having a 'moment' in front of you. If you're too close, or not paying attention, it's your own fault.
I appreciate that someone with a new/expensive car might want insurance, but most retro stuff isn't worth the premium. As was said earlier, you can get road insurance that covers you for a limited number of trackdays. I don't know of anyone who's had to claim on it, though.

I've done some track days at Cadwell in my S12 and my RX3 with the Lancer ~Turbo Register. So much fun! Cadwell is a very interesting circuit ansd the free instruction was worth its weight in gold. Very helpful. Cheap brake pads failed twice on the Nissan but being cheap I didn't care if I canned it. The Mazda I cherished so drove with more care I've also done a day at Goodwood in my S14 on race tyres which was great but the circuit wasn't as much fun as Cadwell by some margin I'm hoping to do something in my Corona at some point. Dreadfully underpowered but pretty good in the corners on that rubber or maybe strip-out the Lexus! Shame it's auto Ferg

If it's not too cheeky to thread hijack,if anyone is interested in private track tuition, let me know.As some of you know,Mrs.CW races Britcar, and is hopefully gonna be moving up to BTCC in the next couple of years. She is a fully qualified ARDS instructor, and already does private tuition.as well as being on the books at Thruxton and a number of other circuits. If anyone's interested, drop me a PM and I'll let you know more details.Obviously I'd try and wangle some RR discount Anyway,continue...

Sounds like a similar deal to the one the Porsche guys I went with on friday sorted out. We had sessions of 12 cars and it was £145.
