Whats a Renner 16 TL automatic worth, its a tax exempt 1972 example.
Could be very tidy, runs and drives OK, it is solid and it could have an MOT (with some unspecified amount of work).
Nice colour too.
I'm tempted but I'd have to be able to flip it quite quickly so it has to be worth at least what I'd have to put into it.

nobody? Have some pics anyway I reckon thats got to be worth a save. leading edge of the bonnet is well crispy, whats the chance of finding a cheap replacement for it? Looks a fiddly one to try repair properly.

Rear subframes rot badly on 16's IIRC.

|
... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

yeah, the guy who's got it said that. Its on a ramp so I had a look and it seems solid as you like under there. I also think they are wet liner motors and can eat head gaskets if that lot slips out. But it runs OK and doesn't boil.

My old man used to have a 16TX, it's my earliest car related memory! Buy it, looks a good base for a project. Valuing it is difficult, in my experience they don't come up for sale often, the ones I've seen have been either basket cases or mint low mile museum pieces.

He appeared briefly on the "on the line" thread. I also noticed that he has a sadly fairly low profile these days.
I shall make endeavours to acquire it I think. If not, interested parties PM me and I'll put you on to the owner.

I love these, arent they somewhat assymetrical? I might be imagining it but I'm sure I read they have a longer wheelbase (60mm?) on one side than the other. If you buy it, try searching on www.leboncoin.fr for spares, there's tons of retro frog tat on there!

Yup they were, on account of the torsion bar suspension. IIRC, the 4,5 & 6 were the same design. I love these cars too, and that one deffo looks worth saving. My Dad had 3 of the buggers. I can well remember the summer of '76, short trousers, vinyl seats...

That looks nice! Isn't that the one with the mad FWD set-up with the engine going north-south behind the gearbox? There's one of them in the U-Pull-It wreckers near me for some odd reason. There's probably less than a handful of other ones in the state to buy parts from it, so I can't imagine them making any money off it!
Anyway, I say buy it!

:)Thanks to akku tipping me off that he couldn't go with this car i have bought it as a save , i am collecting at the weekend and will be cleaning up to sell on as it is , it is remarkably solid and will easily be a goer ,starts and run well , there is an 'intermittant fault in the autobox which the previous owner says is more a service issue as opposed to damage, therte is a bootfull of bits with it , if anyone has any interest in it pm me with an offer , i am looking to recoup purchase and moving costs and a drink for me and akku , i will post on here after sunday with a view to baying it later ,
