This is a great fun little car. Bought from Boycie of this parish about a year and a half ago, I had a great time roaring around in it for a while, and even took it down to one of the monthly RR meets at the Angel Inn, but in recent months it's been underused to say the least, so it's time to move it on to somebody who will get good use out of it.
The Jubilee was one of the last Estelle saloons, and apart from the lack of a sunroof (which is a good thing in my book) it was quite high spec by Skoda standards, with a rev counter, alloys, a lights-on buzzer and superb bucket seats in the front. This particular car has been fitted with a twin-choke Weber and K&N filter in place of the original Jikov, and it also has a freer-flowing exhaust (which also sounds nice). The suspension has been lowered and uprated, which has transformed the handling - compared to the standard 130LSE I had earlier in the year, it feels like a completely different car. It's quicker than the 130, too. Only mechanical issue at the moment is that the idle is too low so it does sometimes stall once the choke is off - I've wound the idle screw in as far as it will go without removing the spring, which has helped a bit but it still isn't perfect. Other than that it runs well, with no smoking or overheating.
The bodyshell is solid, and I haven't found anywhere that would need any welding. Only issues with the body are that the OSF wing has a bit of filler in it on the top which would need painting over, and the paint has faded a bit on the rest of the wing, although I gave it a tentative going-over with T cut last night and it came up pretty well. Also the boot lid has a thin line of bubbling just above the driver's headlight. Other than that it's all pretty good. Oh, and it has clear rear light clusters fitted.
It does have a couple of electrical issues at the moment which are probably down to dodgy earth connections - the headlights work when they feel like it (although the grille-mounted spotlights work fine so you can still see where you're going at night), and the screenwash doesn't work. Sidelights, indicators and wipers are all functioning though.
Other than the electrical issues and a couple of tyres I don't think it'd take much to get through a test - in fact if I wasn't so short of time and space I'd put it through myself. I do actually have some tyres for it somewhere, which I'll throw in if I find them - I have a feeling they're in the back of the Renault 12, which I'm retrieving at the weekend (that's got to go too ). It should drive pretty much anywhere with no problems - I drove it over 150 miles home when I bought it and it never missed a beat.
Here's a pic - I'll get some more in the next day or so, this is the only one I can find at the moment.
