Put the other front arch on tonight. Prepped the rear arch for welding and did a bit of rust investigating round the screen/bonnet area.
No pics tonight, not much to see for now.
More tomorrow.

DON'T PANIC! I went back and did some more work under the instruction of my mate Alex (Body shop guy) this evening, I started off by drawing confusing lines all over the place. Then, using a 6" adjustable spanner I started to bend the edge over bit by bit, shrinking it as I went. I got to the point where I had to take the wheel off to bend any further so took my time, I took the wheel on and off quite a few times in the end. I kept on with the spanner for a bit then used a hammer and dolly to flatten and further shape the lip right round to clear the tyre with the spring fully depressed. I left the top bit less flattened to give more rigidity. With the van jacked right up with the jack under the axle on the side I was working on It was easy to check for clearance. It was too tight to start with and was rubbing on the tyre so I levered it out gently with a crowbar. That should just about do it. I am much happier with it than I was yesterday but it still needs a lot of work.

Have been thinking about posting some stuff from it up for a while so I'll make a thread in the general section and then post a link in here On another slightly related note my dad used to have a Bedford CF ambulance he converted into a camper.

Unless you got it from a scrap yard it won't be the same one, can't remember the reg, have got some pics somewhere. looked like this with a few mods such as bull bars, spot lights, and obviously all the camping stuff etc.

Nice job.
Did you load up the suspension before the folding ??
What are you up to next with it ?

Nice job. Did you load up the suspension before the folding ?? What are you up to next with it ? I kind of kept trying it with the wheel on and jacking up the wheel right into the arch to check for clearance, then took the wheel off again to carry on folding. Next is a full metal repair and two tone paint, then new units and carpet inside.

Started on folding the lip on the near side arch tonight. It turned out less sticking out than the first one but there is still more shaping to do on that side. I've come up with a plan for the front ones too, The front corner pieces are going to be moved out an inch or so and the lower front part of the arch will be fixed to the corner piece so the bumper, grill/slam panel, engine etc can be removed in the usual manner.

It's a Hanlon body though, the picture's a Wadham Stringer. Not from a scrapyard but it needed a lot of work: www.bedford-cf.co.uk/mboard/thread.php?id=6097Anyway, back to the original thread.... Nice work Suterman, that's going to be a really smart "period piece".

Cheers Dubzi,
I've never had much flair for originality when it comes to this sort of thing, the way its turning out will be just like something from the late 70s on the outside but no too overstated which is ok by me.

Front Arches, bumper endcaps. I got some thick sheet and cut it to match the outer profile of the bumper endcaps. Drilled through and fixed the front plate to the endcap. Alex then tacked both front and rear plates onto the arch and cut off the arch at the top of the endcap. Now I have to make a plate for the back, top and bottom of each section. More tomorrow.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.
