Just read this all the way through, such a beautiful car, for me this is what a retro ride is all about! A lot of quality workmanship has gone into this I can see. cheers if I had the money and space there is loads more I could do to make it even better. but I really need to come to a finishing point so I can use it and concentrate on my other project

Just read this all the way through, such a beautiful car, for me this is what a retro ride is all about! A lot of quality workmanship has gone into this I can see. i hope some of that was aimed at me, so thanks not sure what was used in the prop. i gave the company a used mazda mx5 front part of a prop and a used b210 120y rear of a prop. mazda rear is different to the datsun diff.

i would have thought so strange thing is that the UJ's look exactly the same. even the way they are non replaceable is the same? anyway at least i didn't have to get another made. it's makes a change to have an old car where i'm not chasing the rust around all the time poor thing has been sitting for so long the front suspension and brakes need a repaint but at least while it's in bits i can fit some heavier front springs .

iv'e got some adjustable Spax shocks being made at the moment and ordered some 250Lbs coil springs. should improve the front end moved the front spoiler. up by quite a bit but due to a slight miscalculation/cockup iv'e had to redo the lowering blocks and shock mount plates. basically the nose of the diff was too low (even though I thought I copied the angle of the Datsun axle) so I got another pair of lowering blocks and cut them into a wedge shape to raise the nose. I also ordered slightly shorter rear shocks to compensate for lowered springs. due to the extra leaf they sit a little high so I modified the lower shock mounts to raise the mounting point. shouldn't affect how it drives though thought i'd better add some tow eyes.

still not got it back on the road yet . iv'e now got all the front suspension back together with the Spax shocks and bled the brakes through all that is left is the prop. i sent the original one away for overhaul (which wasn't going to be cheap ) but once the company received it thay said they may as well make a new one. the UJ's are too small and the diameter of the prop was too wide for the length. as it wont cost much more they are going to make a prop from scratch with bigger UJ's and a sensible diameter tube. while they are at it i asked them to make the prop to fit the RS2000 diff flange. i may as well change this for the larger one while the car is at this stage

Looks brilliant here, hope the prop arrives soon so you can get back out in it. Can't believe how clean your car is, my dad had one back-in-the-dayTM and he reckons his had more rust from new!

cheers this is how it was but the height at the rear was dictated by the wider axle. (last year) (now) the wheels and tyres are exactly the same but now the ride height has changed the look has changed. the ar se doesn't look as big. the suspension may settle a little but I wont go much lower on purpose. I will need to put a little more camber back in as the rise in ride height has changed the angle of the wishbone and changed camber settings. easily changed with the adjustable linkage though ;D. as for rust there are a few spots showing through which I will have to keep an eye on and do at a later date before they get too bad.

cheers ;D they weren't jokeing when they said they'll fit bigger UJ's and this is the difference between the Ford English axle small flange and big flange sizes and the price for the prop was £250 which includes supplying everything for the prop, the V.A.T and delivery back to me. not bad and it's on ;D . took it for a gentle 20 mile drive to start to bed the teeth of the CROWN wheel and pinion (which is a 3.54 to 1, not a 3.7 as I was told. but that doesn't matteras it feels fine on the road. in fact it is not easy to drive slowly, it just wants to take off. concidering iv'e not reset the front suspension it drives really well. axle is nice and quite and the car rides the undulations in the road really well. difficult to tell at this stage if the suspension is stiff enough but first thing to do is slightly lower the front ride height then reset the camber/caster and tracking. then do some more miles but now the back end is a lot beefier it should easiy take more power. must look up superchargers

got Corbeau to knock up a couple of their Classic bucket seats to match the style of the back seat. they did a superb job and the old non original seats still got to make the frames so i can bolt the seats in then it's onto the next job. overhaul the steering mechanism and a repaint of all the links.
