a bit off the wall but how about a 7 type body on it along the lines of the trials cars i seem to remember there was one called the troll which had 11 inches of ground clearance and many years ago there was a rangy built with a dutton body on it ttfn glenn

Prairie, excellent idea! OR maybe an Espace. Aren't they fibreglass?
As for my spectacular freestyle parking display.. it was on the M26 and my trailer (with another Patrol on it) got very upset with those lorry ruts in the tarmac and just went ape on me and went over, I hit the brakes to bring it to a stop and the next thing I knew, I was on my side too, wish I had been able to view it from afar so I knew what actually happaned but nobody hurt, only smashed cars (both mine!)

I hit the brakes to bring it to a stop and the next thing I knew, I was on my side too! Tsk, I know its retrospective now, but hitting the brakes on a wobbly trailer is the WORST thing to do. You're supposed to accelerate out of a wobble, and back off once the trailer has stabilised.

Bit of a myth that is, getting your foot down wont always work either and just means you crash while going faster, only thing i've found gauranteed to work is to find a steep hill to climb and ease of the gas a bit (not all the way) so the trailer slows the car, uphill sliproads off motorways are ideal but not always conveniantly situated and if they are too short you can then intorduce a roundabout into your wobbling rig of fear.

what are you going to use it for? if you going off road with it something with lots of flat panels and a short bonnet. if it's just for fun a seven type body be good with lot's of lowering and seat squeezed between the rails.

Probably not any serious offroading. Be nice to have something with some room in though, hence estate or van etc.
As for applying the brakes, my trailer was already on its SIDE so i wanted to stop the thing. However it decided it wanted to overtake me !

I'll add my own brown pants trailer moment, and yes I knew about not braking sharply but... Probably almost 20 years ago, I was towing an Avenger banger behind a Mk4 Cortina saloon. Now the trailer was really big and heavy, probably really meant for a lorry. We had to jump on the hitch just to hook it up Anyway, we hadn't got that far, and obviously as the trailer was lifting the of the Cortina, when we got to about 40mph the mother of all wobbles started Now, it sounds fine saying you should accelerate out of it, but the last thing you really want to do with a wobbling trailer is go faster, as I couldn't see any way that this was going to get any better... so on with the brakes This was on the A23 at Salfords, just where it was changing to a dual carriageway. More by luck than judgement, we stayed the right way up, and I really wish I had it on video, I managed a perfect 'Blues Brothers' style parking manoeuvre, ending up facing where we'd come from, perfectly along the kerb ;D (and now the wrong way round on a dual carriageway) The three of us just got out the car, and wandered around wondering why we were still alive. The trailer jack-knifed completely, leaving dents on the top of the rear wing and the wheel. The car was still on the trailer as we'd chained it down. Only minor damage, tow bar still there. After about 10 minutes of wibbling around, we drove home again. Slowly. Very slowly. We were trying to get from Horley to Standlake, and made it all of 4 miles out of the 80+, youthful optimism And on topic, how about a Metrocab London cab?

For the Patrol chassis - put an Isuzu Trooper body on it, then take it to an isuzu dealer telling them you just bought it and want a service.
As for a wobbling trailer - all feet off all pedals, hold it as straight as you can without making large movements with the wheel, and hope for an uphill gradient like Popuptoastyman said. Very few cars indeed (infact I cant really think of anything except maybe Overfinch Rangies etc) have enough power and enough mass to pull a trailer hard enough to get out of a serious wobble.

That's exactly what i did, it jacknifed at 50 instead of 30 cos id tried 3 times to stop the wobble by accelorating out of it, the caravan club does not recomend it as a course of action and TBH niether do i In my case it was due to using a cortina with a stupid rear susspension design with hardly any sideways location of the axle BUT that's what happens when you tow a tailer heavyer than the tow car, the trailer is in charge and that aint no fun. Back on topic, mmmm topicy hazlenuts in every bite ;D The roller is a good idea but one i've seen done before, there's a local tyre yard did a fiesta and now a BMW cab how about a rascal (with some uber wide arch extentions)
