That's a wonderful looking car. I love Imps and had a few when I first started driving - COV 411C where are you now? I also ran a Husky for a couple of years. Looked like an aquarium on wheels... Thanks for the compliment , COV isnt on the DVLA anymore sadly . Ive got a Husky type Imp as well , I say type as its a Commer imp van converted by Restall in Birmingham with back seats and side windows , you wouldnt butcher a van like it now but in the late 60s when it was done it was the normal way of avoiding the dreaded purchase tax

By 'eck that's made me smile. I've not seen a Husky for donkey's years. I really liked mine, I was a pro drummer back then and I used to carry my kit around in it to gigs. You might deduce from my choice of car I wasn't a very successful musician! I could never get the Husky cam cover to seal properly and oil fumes would always seep up through the access panel and create a thick fug within the car. I abused it terribly but it simply wouldn't die. I'm gonna buy myself an Imp one of these days, they're such a great looking car. That Husky looks a peach.

Thanks bobajob , These are great for just chucking stuff in and carting it about . This ones had a right pasting in the past , i bought it from a scrap yard in 1991 for 50 notes and cobbled it together with S/H bits and got it legal on a budget of more or less zilch . For the next few years it just got hammered doing 13,000 miles a year living outside as a daily hack about , i pinched any good bits off it for the Singer and never washed it as it let so much rain in if i did a Rootes special accessory bilge pump would need fitting , not sure if more rain got in or more oil got out but it was getting quite bad in all areas , after about 10 years it was make or break time and i decided to sort it out so i resprayed it ( badly but better than it was ) and spend loads of time welding and sorting out the quite honestly numerous problems , During this time and right up until the present its NEVER let me down , Imps seem to be going up in value lately so if your thinking of diving in id do it sooner than late , Huskys are hard to find now and don't come up for sale that often. If i hear of any il give you a message

Just a small update . This continues to run very well , done a few more leccy mods , mainly adding a momentary wiper switch and making a cover for the bare solenoid terminals . Some pics ,

Well its been months since i updated this mainly because not much has happened , the choke on the rear carb gave up due to the fast idle cam being worn but another cam from a dead set of twin SUs sorted this . Transaxle started leaking but thats been improved with a new driveshaft seal ( although not cured completely ). Other than this it continues to plod on nicely

Other than that its all good Thanks for looking

After 9 months another update seems due . Car continues to run well although a few problems have reared their ugly head from time to time . So what ive done in 9 months is. change the rear numberplate lights so they are hidden - tidied up the back end but did mean getting another hole-less bumper. I wasnt happy with the LED high level brake light or the plastic replacement i tried so made my own from some scrap at work and an old red lens . Engine sprang an oil leak which took ages to find but ended up being an oil cooler pipe crimped joint leaking - easy but expensive fix. Ive fitted all new carpet inside And finally the clip on window aerial is now on the rear side window so that Mrs Remmoc can wind the window down without it flying off . Some pics This pile of rusty junk Became this after 12 hours work Rear bumper sans number plate lights - you can see the second failed attempt at a decent looking high level brake light in this - too big was my diagnosis - also just visible is the aerial in its original place

Aerial moved to here , works really well but required glass removal to do and a day to wire up Arty shot Forgot to add i had to change the clutch in October last year - an engine out job which was easier to do than wire up the aerial and probably quicker as well

To try and get the Singer Mojo back ive sorted the one other thing thats annoyed me on it - the OSF arch was repaired before i got it and was never correct IMHO - No idea who did it though . Rust was starting to come through But considering it was pre 87 its done well --- so it was time to grind grind - chop chop etc etc Same issue as above re the waxoil and making small repair panels seems to take an age ,

Lovely! And lovely repair also Thanks for your kind words - it can be a real challenge as repair panels are either not available - a terrible fit or in this case I never had any anyway - got there in the end though
