It goes okay. The original engine had about 40bhp apparantly, and a good standard blue-top 4A-GE should be around 120bhp I believe. Haven't had it on the road much with this engine cos a couple of things need sorted before I can get it MOT'd but with a 1290cc 4K engine (~70bhp?), and 5-speed Starlet 'box it topped out at just over 115mph and did 0-60 in about 11s.

Some owners have tuned the 4k to be producing nearer 120 bhp all NA too. I am on the look out for some 4k parts for the ke70 to help with that side of things. Some irish laaaads have used a 5k from a liteace and that too is pretty quick. I have some friends very much into the 4age and old toyota's I might have to post your website up if you don't' mind. One's bought a mk1 starlet (bugeye) and is dropping a 4agze into it (same guy who has a turbo'd corolla gt). Another is looking at a 3sge (altezza RS200) conversion for his corolla) and another is going itb's on the 4age..... pity they live in the mids and me in the southwest!! Don't get to see their projects much. Whereabouts are you dude? and sorry for taking this off topic! We need to start a old toyota thread! EDIT: Just saw you're from belfast!!!

Yeah, you can post it if you like, I don't mind. I did have a "tuned" 4K by a local "tuner" which was impossible to get running right. After six months of trying to stop it pinking I ended up with half a piston in bits in the sump. It was my everyday car so I had no choice but to drive it while trying to solve it. Turned out there'd been WAY too much skimmed off the head. Scrapped the engine and ran a standard 4K til I had another daily drive, then started the 4A-GE swap.
