Last night at 4:00 am I got woken up by a really loud bang, so I looked out the window and saw a 4 x 4 pull in and stop at the corner of my road. I thought that was strange but was half asleep and didn't realise what had happened. This morning my dad comes into my room and says that someone has driven into your mini and I just said "WHAT?!" so went outside and this is what greets me: I'm so annoyed now, the person left no details of any kind, and this is a long straight road so I don't even see how any driver could manage this. Been to the police station to give a statement and things, but I'm not getting my hopes up for them finding out much. I just wish I'd gone outside to see what had happened at the time, before they drove off. I just hope my car is not too damaged, I can't lose her to some careless idiot It looks like it should be repairable, as far as I can see its only the quarter panel that has any damage, the radius arm snapped and the wheel looks to have taken most of the impact. The subframe doesn't look bent either, but I'll have a proper look later.

I'd be checking the subframe very carfully.
don't know how much tehy are tese days, were pretty cheap when i had my mini. Might be worth replacing it anyway.
Looks like a quiet road? Is it a through road?
Might be worth trawling the local area for damaged 4x4's

It was fairly new that subframe, but I will check it very thouroughly. If it is damaged I think they're about £120 though. Its a quiet straght road, so I have no idea how they managed it, the force pushed my car forward about 6 feet with the brakes on. I scoured the local area to look for damaged 4 x 4's, but couldnt see anything suspicious

I'm so sorry to hear the bad news.
Scumbags like that are the lowest of the low. Probably only slowed down to check that no one had seen. Do you have any idea what 4x4 it was? (Discovery/Shogun/Land Rover/Terrano etc...??)
That would narrow it down. Ask any local bodyshops if they get any matching vehicles in and leave your number - they are just as likely to hate scumbags like this as much as you & I. You never know??
Best of luck getting it sorted and once again, sorry to hear the bad news.

I was thinking they might have been drunk, this is a fairly quiet area and to have a car at 4 am is strange.

I'm guessing you have an idea of the colour and make?

Given the limited info I doubt the police will even bother trying to help (I reported a driver who smashed in to me and then drove off giving a make, model and partial number plate and they claimed they couldn't do a thing!) but reporting it was the right thing to do.
Here's hoping you can sort all of the bits you need mate - some people make you wonder why you bother don't they!

Good luck finding the w*nkers (sorry but makes my blood boil). I'm just back after a drunk b*tch took out my car while I was helping a mate out (2am - took him home). Her company Golf took out the opposite corner - door frame hit my head and I was sparko. Mates OK - she then tried to start the company Golf and do a runner! The fact it was minus one wheel and halfway up a lamppost didn't seem to register....... spent the next 3.5hrs having her begging me (in casualty) not to say anything... again - the fact the police and ambulance were required went right over her head Some people really are not worth the oxygen they consume........ Good luck Paul - hope it's back shipshape soon. Tipping off the Bodyshops is a MUST DO. Keep us posted if you find 'em!

thanks for the kinds words, just had a proper look and it seems repairable. Luckily the wheel and snapped radius arm took all the impact, everything behind that point looks fine (will get it checked out though, just in case) And the only damaged panel is the rear quarter. A few neighbours stopped by while I was tkaing it apart and said it woke them up too, and they'd keep a look out for me, which surprised me because I thought they didn't like my car antics!

Glad to here 2 of the 3 people involved in the accident are all right - it sounds like her head must have taken a pretty big wallop as well for her to be so deluded

That sucks, man. Your neighbours may not be fans of old cars, but no-one can have any sympathy for a twunt who obviously smashes into another person's car and drives away.
I hope you find the SOB, so you aren't too out of pocket for too long. (Or that you can punch him or her resoundly on the nose).
