It's taken a very long time, lots of hard work, plenty of money, but my mate has finally got her on the road. The paint is getting done again, this time without any filler, as it's just sunk, so pure weld and some lead will help there, but you don't notice till you take a close look. Car is a 1969 1600E 2 door, fitted with a 2.0 pinto "205" block, lightened flywheel, balanced, injection rods, and revs to about 7900rpm. Head is a group A spec, with a really really lumpy nasty kent cam, smoothed out with this. Weber EFi, with twin 45mm bodies. Car also features an LSD , and yeah, it's fun. Door handles are shaved, with solenoid operation, there is no trim, no bumpers, nothing heavy. The car is uber low and uses GAZ shocks, 13" revo's are painted in pearl black with diamond cut rims and are wrapped in 205/50 R13 Nankang radials, which are pretty good actually. ;D

Even cooler is the fact the Audiobahn setup was supplying the James Brown theme tune for the photo's Thing is, all my mates keep making these cool cars, so I'll have to make that "1200" beetle soon just so I can chase them.

I've also got a pair of dellorto carbs, manifolds, and am looking into a homebrew turbo setup....... Turbo beetle can them be towed to race meets with the Supercharged van

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

to be fair Rainking, it does hurl along fairly well, I caught up with that Blue Audi Coupe that left before me at Action (about half hour before me infact, caught him near Corby!!!!, after a steady 98mph stint!!!)
Still want to charge it though, just need to get the brackets and hoses figured out....

i love that tina . very cool.
surely it would be cheaper bolting a 20v t into the wedge than tuning a 1200 bug to keep up with that tina tho

i love that tina . very cool. surely it would be cheaper bolting a 20v t into the wedge than tuning a 1200 bug to keep up with that tina tho Apparently the 20v T is quite a straightforward into a wedge - especially so if it were a diesel T25. Certainly buying a second hand engine & stand alone ECU would cost less than building up say a mildly tuned 1776 on twin carbs with new parts. My mates GTi engine wedge (the one you saw me driving around Spa circuit Rainking) Goes suprisingly well considering the brick-like shape P.S; loving the Tina BTW - fast classic fords are becoming hot property it seems. Also loving the mix of old and new with it running injection

VR6 or Audi 5-Pot is also a Torque-tastic solution.... or a 2.5 V6 TDi for economy as well as grunt. Capuccinocruiser... get that charger sorted then.... G'wan G'wan Goooooooo'Wan. You could also attend the Akciddento College, Wedgiddento campus... on how to lighten the T3 and make it go like stink, on a budget.
