How the hell can you have any type of car and only do 81 miles from new Any new vehicle I buy I normally do at least that many miles in the first day. Shocking waste. What engines are fitted to fso`s. I guess they are fiats. I have seen the square ones fitted with fiat twinks before but never seen a Polonez with one. I remember my uncle bought one of those brand new just as they were coming out and he gave me loads of FSO stickers and sew on badges ;D ;D

FSO's came with OHV engines based on some ancient fiat design (124?), available in 1300, 1500 and 1600cc flavours. They really didn't go as well as they ought, with asmatic performance and handling like a ship in a storm. They also had an 'amusing' habit of blowing the seals off the gearbox, causing catastrophic failure. Built out of the lowest quality metals available it would seem & mostly sold to people who had no clue about vehicles, most have thankfully rotted away now. The late ones had a useful full-length hatch and marginally improved build quality & interiors. My dad bought a 1600SLE brand new in 1990, causing me crushing embarrasment throughout my teenage years.

I remember that when it was red...it was for sale in SM and then turned up near me before vanishing again. It looked quite well engineered back then.

Take a look at this radically chopped Humber Sceptre... cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4575939663&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1It rang a bell as soon as I saw it - managed to find it in the October 1980 issue of Street Machine which I had recently been flicking through. Back then it was deep gold Glowble flake plus numerous other colours in the style of the time, topped off with two gallons of metalflake lacquer. It actually looked pretty good, and warranted a centre-spread. I love this sort of stuff, and get very nostalgic about late 70's/early 80's customs. Many were awful, but some were amazing. A look worth recreating today, or have we already had a metalflake and Wolfies revival?

A look worth recreating today, or have we already had a metalflake and Wolfies revival? There has been at least one Retro-retro car built in he last year, a guy by the name of oldskool built a Vauxhaull Viva in the full 70's style, side pipes and all. I think it is something that will be revisitied, but with a modern twist. In other news... : WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT! : cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4577122803Someone on here MUST by this, so I can eventually buy it off them. Also Will's 240K is up again after previous non-paying bidder. cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4575846348Can't post pictures obviously...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Those Renault 8’s are proper ugly fuggers, I bet they’re fun to razz on the backroads though.
Alpine Andy, if you want any obscure Renner parts sourced over here in France, let me know!
