OK, conor has a cunning plan. We have talked it through, I think its a good idea and his mam says OK. So, this morning he came to work again, starting with stripping the vital bits out of the remains of the front end. Find a few more bits too.. salvage the car's numberplates.. (no it ISNT on the computer - not as a viva, anyway) add a freshly liberated back axle And Voila! Conor's plan takes shape. He dangled an engine in place, grabbed a steering wheel and tried out the driving position ;D He wants to learn to drive, I want him to learn about work... this way we both get what we want

Its great that you can see beyond that mess, great stuff! Those videos remind me of something that happened to one of my mates during a "road rage" incident.
Twigzy, I'm don't care what anyone says- there ARE limits!!

Pbottomley and Rtkklubi - Notice I'm not breaking anything that isnt already terminal Plenty good HA spares coming out of this, watch for for sale threads Grizz.. Thanks mate! Seems a sound plan to me too - Conor came to me asking for the running gear and explaining why ;D Looks like he's been paying attention! Qwerty... I have to really, its that or he spends 18 hrs a day playing the playstation. Lankytim - I think its beyond rage whan you can pull a car apart with your bare hands. I'd be very worried if someone did that to something roadworthy And yes, this was 100% beyond the limits of even oval circuit scrutineers ;D I noticed (before I started) that the bonnet gaps opened and closed as you turn the wheel, and that was without moving it.... While I'm on, here's a pic of the car we built my daughter (when she was 13..) to learn to drive in. wow, 6 years ago? feels like yesterday.

Don't expect 3 months worth this time though! ;D We have a sort of a chassis, with the engine and axles in place now. Just got home, kettle on, Brand new Red Dwarf about to start, so I'll tell you about it later. Off to put my feet up and watch the telly for a bit

The jeep? Long gone (sold), I'm afraid - It was an eagle RV originaly, wide arches, weller 14" wheels and fat tyres. We altered it using a combination of cortina p100 and triumph herald parts so it looked more like a M38 than a wrangler. J used it to learn to drive in, we sold it when she got bored. (and bought her a TS50 and a CBT instead)

I don't think conor's plan involves tax and test... It would be possible, but not what we are aiming for here. Oh, and he's asked me to point out that it's Conor with one N and no E.. ta Couple of photos in the pipe from today...

Today we : welded up the main chassis rails and the front subframe, gearbox crossmember and axle (torque tube) crossmember. Engine is in place so we can get stuff in the right place Conor also picked, drille d and tapped a pool ball, he picked #1 cos its the first car he's built ;D The lane is looking a bit wet today though... But then, followers of the mayday! thread will know how much it rains up here.

Cracking work. Looks like it will be a hoot too when it is done!
Any plans for bodywork, or is this going to be bare bones motoring?

Scary, I didn't think that there was a worse car structually than that Hillman Californian that Twigzy raced.
You have proved me wrong. I'm glad it's going to be rod rather than a Belle Vue splatterfest!

Conor's project seems to be going well - has he any thoughts about a name yet? by way of inspiration; this " lovechild of Segway and General Motors." a PUMA being tested in new york last week
