Ok, never tried anything like this before, but this website and its 'build' threads has inspired me so much that I want to take on a wee project.
So i've decided to rebuild my granda's trailer, thing is, its pretty old. I mean I'm 22, and my granda died 20 years before I was born! But my da remembers my granda buying it from a man that was using it as a chicken shed! lol
Here she is in all her glory:
wheel rusted through to the tube:
from another thread I started a while back I think the consensus was that the rims are pre-1967 volkwagen? Please correct me if i'm wrong!
And some more of the rusty rust:
And some of the woody rot:
Plan is:
some replacement rims (don't have a clue where to find them!)
plywood base with several layers of varnish
planks of varnished wood for the sides and front
Bring all metal back to bare metal, then several layers of black hammerite (should I treat it first? I don't know)
Spent a few hours at it today with a spanner and angle grinder:
Pretty sure the mud-guards are FUBAR'd, anyone know where I could get new metal ones in the same style?
Tyre's FUBAR'd:
Please let me know if you have any guidance to give me.
Cheers.
