Probably replying a bit late now but I’m thinking of doing a decat on my 2005 Hyundai coupe 1.6 but there’s some people saying I’ll lose power then others saying I’ll gain a bit or stay the same. Anyone have any info, You probably won't notice any difference. My experience of OBD2 generation cars and decaats is that without mapping, generally they have a hissy fit not having a cat there because you have an upstream and downstream (cat) O2 sensor and the downstream will read the same as the upstream with no cat fitted and the software doesn't like that.

it's not just about emissions for the MoT though is it ?
on my last test with silver'un a fail was "no cat fitted where one was fitted originally". emissions were fine.
notwithstanding that there was a sports cat, clearly visible to me (and to the exhaust place i took it to immediately after the test) but the tester just wouldn't have it and the fail stood. needless to say, retest was done elsewhere. considered complaining to the registering body but in the end decided to just get on with my life.
fwiw, makes little difference on B2*5 engined saabs. just fit a high flow jobby and the figures are roughly equivalent to decat
