Ok, this isnt as interesting as most of the other threads in here, but I'm happy with how it turned out (considering this is the 1st thing like this ive done!) Start off with this: A 44mm piston from a minimoto - perfect size for the palm of your hand! Get some of this: 12mm aluminium rod, In case you cant imagine what 12mm rod looks like ;D Cut aluminium rod down to a 40mm length, put in the chuck of a pillar drill & use a file/sandpaper to shave enough metal off, so it fits snugly in the piston. Should look like this: Drill a 6mm hole in the rod, and use a 5/16ths BSW tap to get the correct thread, once thats done, hammer the rod back into the piston & use shedloads of loctite to hold it in place. When loctite is dry, the finished article looks like this: Now i just need to finish the car that its going in...

The mini in my avatar The shell is currently at the bodyshop, getting painted. The engine is in one corner of my garage & the rest of the car is in loads of bits in the house/shed/loft/garage ;D

A bit of a random question.
I remember seeing on here a while ago that someone had made a key (possibly for a volvo) out of a screwdriver handle, can anyone point me in the right direction for the pictures please?

Cant find the pics I do remember it though! IIRC take one plastic screwdriver handle and remove blade.. take key and remove fat end.. combine two using epoxy or possibly heat to melt it in..

I bought the piston off ebay, it didnt come with a gudgeon pin, and it was lots cheaper to buy alu rod ;D

fair enough. i have two pistons out of my old mx50 which I'm going to polish up and use as crash protectors on my bike instead of mushrooms
