This is killing me, but I suppose it's the right thing to do.
Bought this on a whim last week, and travelled down from Merseyside to Essex on Friday to pick it up. Have always loved these cars so was made up when I could get one.
Picked up fine, drove back 250 miles without issue - nice powerful motor, great gearchange and amazing handling.
Got back home, happy with my purchase, and then problems started.
Nothing I can do or say is going to convince the Mrs to drive this car. She has just changed from her Seicento so I suppose I was hoping a bit too much for her to drive this, but I thought it I got it back home and let her have a go I may persuade her.
Not going to happen. She is too small, and not confident with it. As I have a company car this was only ever going to be a weekend plaything for me, and the important bit I kind of ignored - a run around for her to get to and from work about twice a week.
The car itself is great as you can see. It was stored in a garage for 6 years and brought out, serviced and MOT'd without issue. Still has 11 months left on the MOT, and I'm going to tax it today so it'll have 6 months tax on it.
The only let down for me was the interior - it had been stored for 6 years so was in need of a clean up, unfortunately the people selling it didn't even bother running a hoover over it.
They did however try to scrub the front seat, and didn't do a very good job, nor did they bother drying it, so 250 miles back left me with a wet !
I have found a complete front and rear seat arrangement for £90 from a guy breaking a low mileage minter in the Lakes which I was going to do, but little point in doing if it is going. You could probably clean the seat up, but they do have hot rock burns in them so probably better replacing them.
The car stands me at £650 including my travelling expenses, but not including the tax, which I'll throw in.
I really don't want the money though TBH and would prefer a swap - this time for something she will actually drive. A small 4x4 would be great for her, or hatch etc, but whatever you have I'll consider as long as it has some tax and test.
Not happy, but I guess being a grown up, it's probably the best and only thing to do.
