Well, I'm sure some of saw my photoshop thread, Big thanks for all the input on that! Really gave me some food for thought and made my first idea a lot harder to make! I went with, gun metal! Even now I'm thinking it might not have been the best idea, But I'm happy enough! Afterall they are purely my tatting around wheels so i don't have to use my alloys all the time cause of the value. SO, here is my weekend in pictures, Starting Wednesday pmsl! Not sure i mentioned it on the last page, One of the steelies had a leak, From the rim it's self, tried welding it.... scrap! So i sourced another, while having the tyres swapped i fetched some paint, and PU laquer! Did the three i had, finish isn't the best, but it's good enough for what i want em for! Luckly with the warm weather, i was able to chuck em in the car turning it into a spray oven! This was pre-laquer and sadly all pics are camera phone as my normal camera is awol! Then, being fathers weekend, down to the inlaws in Luton, where the plan is, finish steels, fit them, pick up a set of mondeo wheels i'd agreed to fetch and also sell 4 tyres i'd sold on here. Do 4th! Then, the buyer of the tyres never showed, no phone call, nothing, So now i gotta get 4 16 inch mondeo wheels, 5 fiesta alloys and uncollected tyres back in the car! that didnt work, so i've had to leave my alloys down the inlaws garage, good job they're understanding! Got a bit of lowness tho! OK so, then having to drive all the way BACK to my dads to put the uncollected tyres back in the lock up i decided to stop in the forrest for some shots: I know i know, the studs let them down, i've ordered some black plastic caps off ebay for them, Also I'm gonna black the tyres and wash the car next weekend, and take a camera that's better than my camera phone back down with me for some more pics, place has a lot of potential!!

Chears Robin. My bolt caps came today off ebay! Quick test fit proved fitting the centre caps afterwards wasn't gonna happen, the extra thickness added with their tapered shiney surface ment they simply popped the caps right off. So, out with the hacksaw, i figured a small nick in the bottom would be enough to alow the center cap to bite onto the bolt underneather and still alow me to fit the bolt caps. Like dis! Test wheel one: Fo-sho u can see the cut marks, But I'm happy enough, besides, it's actually a plus cause the bolt caps are pretty tight, But with the modification actually LOCK the center caps into place, far better than just the bolts on their own!! 12 more of those then! Notice i also shined my tyres? Cant have tyres in a lighter shade than the wheels! lol

wow, so out of date it's unreal! Couple of updates, I went out playing around in the forrest with a better camera. I decided I hated momo wheels, because the Fiesta steering colum don't sit straight, and a momo steering wheel is perfectly flat, it sits funny, so I got a XR2 one, as u can see in the pics, they compensate for the odd colum fitment: You can see how wrong the momo sits and how right a standard wheel sits Then as the warmer weather set in, I binned the steels, and the camp spare Put my nice wheels back on, I know they're not "scene" and it's all about the steels these days, but I love these wheels ;D Then, Mr Grunty made me a heat sheild for my nasty look cast iron manifold. (don't laught at my keyboard, it helps me navigate the keys in the dark lol) However, I made a bobo! The measurements are spot on, I couldnt be more chuffed with it. BUT when fitted up it rubs against the HT leads, only slightly, but it wouldnt be long before I knackered them up and shorted out. So today, I got all skilled with some metal working tools. The reality is I couldnt be more useless with tools, I haz no skills! But I must admit I'm REALLY impressed with my self today, made little cut outs with a file of all things! Half a bottle of cherry cola for the sugar rush and I was away! Upclose, did I say how chuffed I am with my self? Ballsed the drilling of the holes up a bit, but u cant really tell ;D Now I know it fits, I can get it off again and get it polished to get the finer scratches out! BIG THANK YOU GRUNTY! Really pleased with it!

Where am i at now? Well, proof she's a working car! In early August I loaded up my tat i'd been hauding over about 18 months, weighed it in, some alloys, A battery, bit of copper and other Alloy along with 100kg's of steel, all came in at £86! Just intime for my Holiday! It was funny headed though Willenhall straight past a police check looking for travellers in tat wagons without a second look from the 5-0. Then on our way to the southcoast we did FordFair (I organise the FSOC stands) I wasnt the only imposter ;D So off on Holiday, Dartmoor first, then to Bridport! 4 days all in the on the 5th I stopped off in Bornemouth for some wheels i'd agreed to buy from an XRtwo.om forum member! Good job i was in the area! ;D Think we did 1200 miles all in over those few days inc Fordfair. No issues at all and a 45mpg average. (that included 100 miles with the trailer on taking some other stuff down to the inlaws in Luton, where it stayed while we were away then 100 miles home) Then a few weeks later, the dawn drive, with the wheels on i Brought while on the south coast after getting them some tyres. £40 for the 4, brand new never seen the road! Better picture of the wheels it's currently on! Never have too many sets! Now she's in winter storage! I brought this a few weeks ago. Not really worth of it's own thread being a modern but cheap insurance, cheap to buy, lots of toys, the urge for a modern, a love of Volvo's and a slice of impulse were all the ingredients i needed! Comes in useful for the caravan we got given and it's rather economical for it's size! 44mpg on a run, Ask Brian Damaged! lol (and mid 30's around town)

Hi! Very nice story..... Love the Mk2's,drive them for daily use many years never had any problems. The Valencia is much better than the Kent .....they never seem to wear out if there is some things like oilchange etc. And the MPG is top! But i switch sometimes ago to the 1,6 Diesel.....that's a proper Diesel Engine!500.000 km? no problem! It's developed by Deutz in cologne and so they are:heavy, massive reliable. The problem in germany is the tax for old diesel cars......you can't afford it So i stored it....when the time has come i will restore it .And when it's 30 year old you can get it on historical numberplate.Than the Tax drop massive ;D Here it is 87' Festival....done nearly 200.000 miles and still strong! Cheers

That's a really nice Fiesta, well done! Your latest rims have me stumped - what are they from (look like Puma fanblade centre caps?) they look great, kind of a larger diameter take on the original steel wheels that these came with - very tasteful indeed! The previous Ka alloys and wide steels also look fab too by the way!

Just read this thread from the start to here. Great to see your perseverance here with the car from the beginning. A great stance with the latest set of wheels too .

Well DAYUM! Almost two years since an update, Time really does fly some of that stuff above feels like only a few months ago! Gonna try and update this! With the addition of TWO more cars, I don't do enough to justify a thread for each, and "Evop" the white one will always be number 1! Not sure why the above pics have broken links, so let me quickly drop a pic of what she looks like at the moment and go from there... Taken at two shows this year by other people, I'm slowly sinking her back into more of a modernised old car, with better brakes, suspension, carb, stereo etc. As of TODAY I now have ALL the panels i need to get her back up to scratch. As we moved back in May from our flat to a house I can now keep her here at home with me, hoping to get my garage built real soon. Despite not doing many miles, we've had a bit of an adventure this year! Good and Bad! The year started in Feb when I lose my dad, He got me the car in 2001, not for one moment did he think i'd keep it this long. So she was quickly taxed and payed her respects also at the funeral: I didn't want to ride in the limo with his new wife and her family in the limo, I couldn't a picked a better ride of my own. As no room had been left in the hearse for my reef she had to carry that too. We both popped our track day cherry at a Trackday Drivers event at Curborough, i've been going for some time just watching and snapping some shots, I finally got the balls to give it a go! It's nice and steady for a rookie like me, one car at a time, nice small simple course and most importantly a great attitude among the guys there, no elitism, no snobbery, no clique, good guys out for legal LOL's! Some shots from a guy there: Parade lap on briefing On it like a car bonnet! Ready to bounce Got some video's too, from my handy cam clinging to my headrest with a JOBY! Now I know she's on the slow side, but I really did have a blast and she performed faultless all day! So chuffed on the way home I bought a gallon of oil and gave her an oil change early. Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeen we moved! To our new house! We were heavily let down by some family, those members of the family with the biggest vehicles! I'm still not over chuffed about it but life goes on! So moving was done with our 2001 Passat... saloon (boo, no wagon) and my Fiesta... working her ass off! (Yes, my Volvo is gone now BTW, so is the ultra reliable Civic, but that's another story! Infact, since I last updated the Saph has gone too!!!) Several trips like this! More effortless hard work! We did Fordfair the weekend before last too, good day out! Lost the love a little bit since getting the house with other jobs on hand, but it's coming back Slowly!

OK so posting in sections so not to loose any! She had got a rolling road day planned too! However on the morning of the event her (3 month old) battery was flat! For no apparent reason, since turns out it was a duff battery and has been replaced! SO, even though it was a Ford club event, I took the Passat instead! They were cool with it as they're good guys (same crew as the trackday drivers guys). Plus.... it was at Midland VW so hell, why not! Standard car, so should be (i think) 129bhp, and 210ft/lb torque? Erh..... yeah.... ANYWAY, that's modern as hell, a good daily smoker but modern so that's enough of that! Back in March, INFACT, t'was the day of the Beach Party! I agree'd to purchase another car, another mk2 Fiesta from Taunton! Then drop in at the beach part on the way back from the guys house! with the 'sat So the car is a 65,000 miler, I got it from a lad in Taunton who got it from some old folks who'd never left Ilminster with it! It's actually pretty upsetting, the idea was to get a "smoker" this one is sadly FAR FAR better than my white one! He'd added xr2 suspension, and those wheels. Also some stickers, a nice radio and speakers in the front. Also a set of dixie horns, i would be lying if i said this wasnt a big selling point, along with the towbar! Some pics when I got it home, never welded, real tidy, some small rust, nothing worth worrying over! My first job was some security! I always use a disklock but I wanted more, so i made a call to the place I always use, their fitter was free, and came straight out! Removed his stickers, I then also changed his JVC Stereo for a Sony USB one i had spare, and put some new speakers inthe front, fitting the old front ones in the rear thanks to some xr2 speaker mounts for the factory finish in the back. I also fitted an xr2 rear panhard rod due to it being lowered, always play it safe! Old Fronts: New fronts: Old fronts, into rear! Then with Moving dawning I pretty much left it as it was until recently. I put the skinny wheels back on he gave me with the car, got some OEM hubcaps and love the look now! I got another set of wheel trims in a different style, also the black center caps that wedge fit between the bolts (two brand new pairs at Fordfair BARGAIN £10) (More coming, next post....)

Oh and "Evop" FAQ:
"Hey fatty, what wheels are those...?"
Not even sure my self! I believe they are from the accessories catalog from the mid to late 90's for the mk4/5 Fiesta. (Not to be mistaken for optional extra's). This is only the second set i've ever seen my self!
I also mentioned above i had been loosing the love a little, which is true although I'm getting it back I have a HUGE wanting for an American Pickup truck (modern ish) or a Ford CROWN Victoria (late model)
So let's see what the future brings....

Yeah, Red is very tidy, I got her for £850 with fresh 6 months tax.
I even had to pay £350 for the blue shed! I'm about to go down and start stripping that. It's strange when you think my friend just got £200 for a scrap Focus! When i started driving i'd have given my right arm for a Focus!

Well i'm half way though pulling the blue one apart! Tomorrow just need to remove whole front end assembly, same with rear, then go rent my grinder from Argos and chop 'er up!
Shame really because as i've pulled it apart, other than the rear arches and sills, it aint a bad shell!

That red one is absolutley flipping brilliant, what a looker. I could sit and look at it for yonks, it just looks supa straight and unmolested. It would have stood out 15 years ago amongst all the snotter festas with hadrian cover sills, halfords wheel trimz and underseal tidemarks halfway up the doors

Thanks xbo11ox!
I had a friend come over today, a freeking whiz at body work, and knows his mk1/2 Fiesta's inside out, upside down. Currently drives a mk2 with a Vauxhall XR red top in.
He knows my history with the cars and came over to see the blue one, see if there were any body sections worth cutting out.
We had a good talk and he had a good look over Lil' Red as he hadn't seen it in the metal before. He was able to confirm the car was all original with no evidence of any major body work other than maybe a splash of paint in one area. After some talking we decided focusing all my attention and funds on my white one for a super perfect finish would be silly, very silly when Lil' Red is almost there. For a few quid she could be made into a top condition car while remaining all original! Helped out by not having a Rust trap sunroof!
There is no reason why Evop shouldn't have many years yet given how much she is used, but should focus more on "keeping it tidy" rather than "mint". So I think that is the best route to take! IF i wanted to go the full mint on Evop we're looking MAJOR body surgery that Lil' Red simply does not need. Not just panels but grafting in new sections on the legs, floor and inner wings etc. A bill running into a few £1000 that I don't want to spend on something that will always still only be a low spec'd MK2 Fiesta.
For that money I can have some very nice rides out back! So that is the plan, for now at least!
