Chears for the offer skiprat, i got a chap said he's got one for me, he's just a bit forgetful on the posting See what happens tho i might need to take u up on that offer Yeah airlock went, I think it didnt help I was trying to do it on tick over, not being taxed and mot'd I couldnt drive it anywhere, As soon as I set off for MOT the heaters came on in no time. I think it might have been summut to do with the water being able to circulate faster idk. Hasnt lost a drop of water now in over 200 miles and keeps perfect temp so fingers crossed it's all good. Not that it matters much, the plan now I know the mk1 cooling system works, and can cope (quite well I might add) I'm gonna drop the coolant, got a couple of new hoses to fit and a new thermostat (although I'm thinking the old one is working well, no point disturbing it) then re-fil. Chears Arkle. I'm just awaiting an engine mount, the upper one is aweful engine clanking around like a wrecking ball in a china shop so i've parked it up and using the saff til that's sorted. I did ask the man at ford said it looks like they're still available £35, so if the one I'm waiting for (know good second hand) don't cure it, i'll order a new one see if one shows up. Just a parcel shelf I'm awaiting now, it's got so bad I was dreaming about parcel shelfs last night! pmsl

Good to see it back alice mate. As to bleeding cooling systems - Ideally you need to run it up to check for leaks etc and then take it for a short drive - the waterpump flying around pumps the water around much faster pushing any airlocks out. Never failed me on all my cars I've worked on

I just need to dream the missus passes her test tomorrow now!! Anyway, My rubber gear gater was fecked! Managed to get a leather one from a mk3 SI, Direct fit! I also just been given this, F.O.C! Weber 32ibf, brand new, just needs fuel rod! Ideal as I'm currently using a 34ibf from a 1.6, the 32 is for the 1100! Chap also said somewhere he has conversion for VV so i should be able to keep my 34 a complete unit incase i want to use it again.

Small update to where i am now! Painted rocker cover up.... I always keep a stock of Matt Black paint, works out cheaper this way After the nitromors, i rubbed it back, and it started to look pretty tidy as it was! So I'm on the look out for another one to polish up... Primer, paint, fit! and no sence throwing old cacky bolts back in when a set of Stainless hex's come it at £2 from the "crazy bolt lady" Engine mount came, put the car back into use! Found all the engine banging around had broke the seal with the Manifold and downpipe. I also discovered the 34IBF carb was leaking fuel, Only when turned off, down the throttle shaft, out and dripping onto the Distributor! I wasnt having non of that! So i made an attempt to fix it, which didnt work, the only thing i could do to stop the leak was jam a badly fitting "O" Ring in, which caused the throttle to not return properly and idle at 2000rpm! Long story short i wasnt happy with that, Or the way it was running, the carb wasnt the right one for the car. So on with a correctly sized 32IBF! Off with the 34.... to find, i'd be very lucky, found a random wingnut down there! Set it up to run as best i could from the weber instructions, But still wasnt right! I wasnt happy, holding back. Even tho i'd asked the garage to set the timing with a strobe gun when it was MOT'd i suspect they didnt! I don't have a strobe gun, so i thought i'd just do it by ear and feel! Well i undid the clamp and advanced, straight away it picked up lovely, smoothed out the tickover then started to lump as i got more advanced, turned it back to where it sounded "good" and did it up! What a difference! Was like a rocket! So i booked it in at a different garage this time to get my CO2 readings checked as well as the timing! The good news was, the timing was spot on, couldnt have been any better if i'd used a strobe! The bad news was, it was too lean, So they put the mixture right! The anoying whistle i'd picked up changing the carb is still there, nothing can be done, not an airleak, just a new noise! So anyway since that, i've re-sealed the exhaust joint and it's driving bloody lovely, other than small gearbox oil leak I'm gonna do when the parts arive no issues to report!! SOOOOOO quiet, puts 8 year old KA's to shame when it comes to noise level! I've just done a quick calculation and it's done around 50mpg since being set up! That'll do! In other news, parcel shelf finally came Bit grubby, and grey, not a problem i was gonna paint it blue after a clean! But the paint i brought was very..... BRIGHT! So, time to crack out more of ye ol' favorite! Will do, i'll keep ma eye out for a blue one if one ever comes up. Other than that, i've just been rolling around loving this sun to some Keith Urban and Prad Paisley CD's! Oh, i've started on tidying the Engine bay too, less blue, more green, more matt black, and some hammerite: Still.... work in progress, as always! Be glad to get the saff back the end of the Month, Sorn'd it when the tax ran out last month, get some miles on the Fiesta! I miss that big angry diesel barge!

Oh, i also managed to pick up a bargain strobe timing gun off the carboot sale, used once, drapper jobbie 6 quid, works perfect!
I'm also getting my xr2 steels powder coated asap! I went to ford today, found out the price of my alloys has gone up from £55 a wheel to £125 a wheel! So i certainly will be putting them away for shows and summer only and roll the steels daily!

I may have got it wrong, lol, but it reads that you were told £55 each for your alloys and now they've upped the price to £125. That's bad businees in my eyes and no way to gain customers, but if you don't mind paying the increased price then it's your decision and your money. I cringe at £500 for a set of wheels though without tyres, that's probably 'cos I can't afford £500 atm for a complete car.

Oh yeah i see! Nah i paid £55 a rim back in 2002, Today they're 125 each, Dunno if it's due to metal prices or Ford just playing up. But one of the reasons I'm gonna sort some other wheels for daily rollings now it just got a hell of a lot more expensive to replace any of mine if anything happened to em

Started on one of the wheels to see how it turns out: I did plan to use wheel paint, proper spray stuff. But i got a near new tin of silver hammerite, i can see the hammerite being a lot stronger and easier to touch up if needed, and i aint too fussed about a less than perfect finish on a less than perfect car either tbh! Plus i aint paying powder coat prices at the moment So here they were years ago, quick lick of satin black Still got the black plastic center caps too! Had the tyres popped off a while back ready, today i took on the First wheel and this is how it went: HAMMERITE FTW one more coat tomorrow will do Shouldnt look too bad once laquered. Aint no show wheels ;D

Well i got some tyres, nice and cheap with lots of life left and stuck thems on! One is flat, bad seal i think, either that or it wasnt pumped up right, so i've pumped it up see how it looks tomorrow. Other wise i just gotta clean em, touch up a couple of bits where the tyre machine took the hammerite off. Then decide what I'm gonna do with the wheel bolts. What ya recon?
