I'm in the middle of building a relic Stratocaster. I've already bagged myself an old solid body and an original 1979 loaded scratchplate, now i'm looking for a 70's neck.
Don't suppose anyone's got one of these? doesn't necessarily need to be Fender, any period J copy would do but needs the larger headstock with large maple fretboard.
cheers big ears

I do, but I'm not parting with it Just to say try the neck (if an original) before parting with cash - many of the '70s Fender ones were pretty user unfriendly, IMO. Also be aware that they're pretty likely to be a 3 bolt fitting, with a bullet truss adjuster at the headstock end (granny/eggs I'm sure)

Do they differ much in quality from the fender ones?

the best quality fenders (accessible old ones atleast) are the 80's J made ones, JV - H serial numbers i think. I know where there is a mint E serial squire but they want £225 for it its the going rate unfortunatly. mid-late 70s fender stuff is in general pretty poor quality. you want the J for that era if you want quality. I know of a red curse word attack no name strat with a plain large headstock in a junk shop, ill get a pic if you want?

I just found one! 1979 vintage Yasuki (strat copy), apparently made by Matsumoku which i'm told is a huge bonus?? 25 sods for the neck and it's 2 piece maple with a skunk stripe. Just need to replace the Behringer body now with a period J version.

I've got a very early 90's silver series squire strat - I've spent more money on guitars since but of all of the it I own, it;s the one guitar I would never part with. J made guitars freom the 80's and early 90s really are pretty special.

Porsche 924 - gone Citroen Saxo VTR - not very retro but I loved it - now gone... MK4 Golf GTi 1.8T - gone but hardly remembered... Mini Cooper S R53 - gone BMW 125d Coupe - gone (mostly sideways)
Ford Focus RS Mk1 - hello low MPGs and "wanna race me" at every set of lights... 1973 BMW 2002 - Twin 40's, 284 Cam, Revolutions, E21 Recaros + more Porsche Cayman 987 3.4S - here and due to cost me more money than I have

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in
