Had a phone call off a mate asking if I wanted a Honda bike for free, well obviously the answer was yes . Belonged to an old chap who was moving house and needed it shifting or it was being skipped. From what we understood it was stored in a barn and had been unused for 8 years. So roped in another mate with a trailer and off the three of us set. well, the barn turned out to be an open shed with the bike half out covered in plastic sheets . But, a freebie is a freebie so it was oaded up and bought back to my garage. The bike is a honda 250 superdream, electric start only, and came with its own proper rats nest, so true rat look ;D. Plans are to see if it will turn over on the starter, it isn't seized but no electrics other than the parking lights are working. then a strip down and reapir. definately needs a new tank as its leaking from the seams. It even came with a rat look Shoei and gloves in the topbox

Everyone's Dad had one of these in about 1980. There must be 1000s rotting away in sheds all over the country.

MY dad had one in about 1999 actually! and it was Honda blue and the wheels were detailed in black to make the rims stand out. I think they were like some kind of unusual reversed mag spoke ones and it kept breaking so he sold it! That said he DID have one in 1980-82 as well, and it was red.

I had a wet Super dream about 10 years ago Loved it to bits. Paint was cack so I sprayed it satin black, looked awesome. Ended up wrapped around a telegraph pole after it threw me off

It lives!! ;D Can't get any power from the ignition key due to a rotten wiring loom, so a quick hotwire later it runs. Take note of the temporary fuel tank Excuse the shaky video, didn't have enough hands.

was just about to say the same, cant remember quite how the carbs were linked fuel wise but if its a link pipe under the carbs (which is at the bottom) its probably full of sediment.
nice to hear a bit of life in the old girl yet though

my brother had a 125 superdream when he was learning to ride bikes, about 25 years ago. but hes a big man and used to thrashing cars. So he got a 250 superdream. me him and dad went to get it. Heavy old thing it was, all of us struggled to get it on the trailer. my brother rode it about. bit dodgy as he was only allowed to go a 125 until he passed his test. He was in town with it. He blew the engine. The conrod went through the cases. That was right across the road from the Police station. When we went to get it with the trailer. He pressed the button and rode it onto the trailer. Just on the one working cylinder.

as to the lights, you might find that the main lights are AC rather than DC powered and only work with the motor running

Well its stripped down to a bare frame now. Big pile of rusty bits for the bin, so some ebay'ing to do now. In the video its running on full choke so wasn't running well anyway, it ran alot better when off choke and warmed up. Carbs definately want a full strip down, the old fuel was like varnish, so hate to think what they are like inside. Biggest problem I had was getting the downpipes off, managed to shear a stud in the head , so I probably strip the engine and rebuild it anyway.

Well as I'm off work this week, I couldn't resist having a look at the frame whan i should have been working on the moggie van. I knew it was rusty so attacked in various places with a wire brush to check for holes. Most of it seemed solid but a bit rust pitted. So I dropped in off at the shot blasters and £20 later it looks like this. Some rust holes here i was expecting Some here i wasn't, So broke out this my antique welder and decided to try out the new wiring circuits I'd installed in the garage 8 double plug sockets, 6 flourescent lights, 40 amp supply and a proper fusebox at last All welded up, but i couldn't get in here with the grinder to dress the welds afterwards. Not to worry, you'll never see it when the engines back in. Then my big mistake, decided to give it a quick coat of etch primer to preserve it and stop it rusting back up. Nothing wrong with that, but the garage now stinks of paint fumes so evacuated garage and didn't get any other work done. Now looks like this, Can't afford a paint booth so improvised with a paint oven ;D Need to stopper up some of the pock marks, and then a decent coat of filler primer, but that can wait for a bit as i want to get some welding done on the van.

I always wanted one of these as a kid, the closest I got was a Honda NS125F when I grew up. Its nice to see someone restoring one. I have thought of doing the same thing sometimes. Keep the posts up.

Yep always wanted a wet dream. I think there was an n version that was the sporty looking one. Really liked those. Everyne thought I was mad when I was looking at these when they were buying brand new Rgv 250's. In the end I bought a Jawa 350, but still wished I went the wet dream route Forgot to say, liking the pics. Your doing it properly which should mean the bike will last for many years to come. Well done

This turned up in the post yesterday, basic polishing kit, £9.50 delivered of ebay. So before I started on the van, thought I would try a little go on a bit of the foot hanger plate. quite impressed with the few minutes i tried it for, think i'll be stocking up on some more polishing wheels though as i seem to be wearing vast quanties of white thread Looks like someones had a go at it in the past as they are some previous circular marks on it. Time to put this project to bed for a while as I want to get going on the van.

think your supposed to clean up the alloy with wire wire wool and sandpaper. so that its smooth and grey. Then use the mops on the metal to get a good finish. there was a honda twin of with a similar engine to the superdream that they brought out in the late 80s. It had a red frame a bit like a Harris Magnum, and white body work. Cant remember the model name though.
