Does anyone know whether Mk2 golf GTI springs and dampers are a bolt on to a mk2 jetta?
Or do you know of an easier/simpler way to slam the thing? cutting the springs? lowered springs? cheaper the better here folks, cos budget is THE priority
Also, my jetta is a big bumper model (and i think they look a bit pants), anyone know whether the car is painted underneath so i can just retro fit the smaller bumpers?

The MK2 Golf shocks should fit, so it will be easy to hold of a set of lowered springs for a Golf from a shop. I wouldn't suggest cutting the springs down - it's far easier to buy a set - try ebay or alike for a second hand set.
The shell will be painted underneath so fitting smaller bumpers would be viable.

Thats pretty much what i wanted to hear!
Anyone know whether leaving the standard dampers on will be a problem? Its a bog stock 1600 so it aint like its a performance car, and i doubt handling could get much worse to be honest!

It will work using the std shocks, but you will be better off getting hold of some stiffer (Bilstein?) or adjustable ones (Koni, Spax etc). If you're going to replace the springs, you might as well do the shocks at the same time.
