I know that the preferred method is to use Corsa B springs instead of the Viva ones, but I have just bought a viva which has been lowered by the bloke I bought it from and it looks like he has used Corsa B lowering springs instead of standard ones and it is virtually on the floor! The front springs he has just cut. He said that he tried the corsa springs on the front but it was way too stiff. I'm wandering if he tried lowering springs on the front as well and if he did then it's no wonder. I was going to re-do the lot and try standard corsa B springs and see if that sorts out the ride but I don't want to waste my time and money. Has anyone tried lowering a Viva? Whats is the best method??

You can still buy a -60mm lowered 'off the shelf' set for an HC for about £85.
The guy who does them is in Sheffield , I'll pm you his number..

i used the corsa rear chopped front on 1 of my vivas, it looked great but the ride/handling wasnt the best, in the end i converted to adjustable coil overs front and rear, obviously this takes fabrication and some head scratching but the end result was fantastic, much better ride quality and flat cornering ;D

Cut springs on the front won't be very good at all as the suspension design effectively softens them (even though they're actually stiffer after cutting). Get some some stiffer ones made up, or get some off the shelf if you can find some low enough. Regarding Corsa springs in the back...how does it ride? If they fit then I'd leave 'em in!

Fu@k me! Thats a machine!
It looks like a HB viva crossed with the obvious Jag IRS on the back, blown V8 Chevy and Granada MkII rear lights. Dunno what the front eyes are from though.
A hog for sure!

Hard as nails! every bump makes me think the back axle is going to bust loose. I think he has used lowering springs instead of stanard, which is a bit too low. The rubbers sit about 1/2" away from the cups

Somone here can probably date that photo better for me. I had to buy those Grandad back lights new as the car they came from had just been launched. The whole back end sheet metal was made from electrical trunking that i 'found' at work. What year would that be ?

I used Cogger's spring guy for the Magnum and he gave me these: (Original front springs on top, lowered on bottom - about 3/4 inches of difference.) I used Avo adjustables as well, to be honest the rear springs were tiny! Made the Magnum go from this: To this:

ooooo baby, that looks nice! I spoke to the geezer today and he said he would so me a set for £103 delivered. He seemed like a top bloke as well and judging from his work, I'm in. The cheque is written out and sitting in an envelope. How much did you ask for for on your springs? I was thinking 1 and 1/2 inch lowered, but yours look more.........and good for it. How does it handle the old anti - chav bumps? Also, forgive me for sounding like a dick, but I just want to make absolutely sure. What are the differences between Magnum and viva HC springs apart from stiffnesss? I'm pretty sure in geometry terms they are exactly the same. Am I wrong? Never had a magnum. The bloke only does Magnum springs and I want to make sure they will slide in without any amount of pain before I send the old chequeo.
Nice ride man. Looks good.

I've sent off a cheque to coggers spring maker bloke and ordered some proper springs. Gonna get all new shockers as well. this puppy's gonna roll! I'll have to take some pics and put them up on the thread so you can see before and after, although the after pics won't be here until about a months time when I have a window to do it all. Watch this space!
