Fingers crossed for you This thread has been awesome, the effort you've put in over that little time is incredible. Hope you can pull it off.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Just about to head down to shell out an extortionate amount on new springs - €141 . Prob a bit late now, but could you not have just fitted coil spring helpers? I run them in the back of my Laurel as it's too low to get down into the dungeon when flat out?

I couldn't find any locally - rang everywhere and a place down the road had them in stock. To be honest, it's costing me a fortune to get to RRG!! So an update, I'm on the home straight Sunday night - I fixed the instrument cluster, rolled the arches (didnt do a god job :\ ), fitted a massive battery, threadlocked the diffbolts, Monday night - Blended the paint (don't expect much tbh) I also got all 4 wheels balanced today and the dude who damaged them has agreed to get them refurbed when I come back from the uk. What's left to do before Thursday night: Collect & fit Sub box Mount amp properly Do a little more painting Fix Steering creak Make up new sidepanels for interior where speakers have been fitted Mop, polish & wax car Test drive :\ Pack When I hit the UK: Headlight Alignment Get Tracking done I haven't had a haircut in months or a shave in weeks, so maybe I should fit them in

Home at last. Amazed that the car lasted the journey - 642 miles exactly according to satnav - averaged 20mpg, so it wasn't a cheap trip It's back in the garage now so lots of repairs to make now. Think I need to replace the whole rear axle at this stage

Glad you got back OK - I knew the driveshaft would hang on! Was a pleasure to meet you and your good lady. Do ya reckon that leak is something to do with that wet on the exhaust that you found in the museum car park whilst you were under it? I can only think it could be fuel or diff oil in that area... or random water.

I dunno how much experience you have of these, but the driveshafts and seals are quite a onanistic design. you cant remove a driveshaft without disassembling the diff( they have a circlip on the inside holding the shaft in, so you have to drop the oil, remove the backplate, make a tool to hook the clip out (they have a hole in) then reseal and refill), and you have to remove the rear trailing arms too unless you cut the drop-stop tabs off so you can lever the arms down further. the driveshafts are one-piece and totally unserviceable, you have to replace the whole lot, and they're £125 a time. you cant even bodge on normal universal CV joint covers if the stockers go as you cant stretch em over, you have to make do with a wraparpund type one. I got through 3 shafts on my old yellow stacker, but that was silly low on big wheels so the shafts were totally maxed........
I think I may still have a couple of spare shafts if youre in need of one?

Great to meet you, mate. Lovely, lovely car, too. Thanks for the kind words about mine. After America, I shall fix - then you can have a proper drive! Any chance your Mrs fancies cleaning my interior, too? Looked mint! Good luck sorting the leak.
