after 2 years in a 110 defender (deafening the girlfreind) i decided that a bit of luxury was required
my dad has a 2003 e class which i like a lot but couldnt afford so i went for the previous model.
it had to be an estate for towing the rally car about but i have been mighty impressed by this car on a day to day basis
Its a 2001 mercedes e320 CDI. this is the same common rail engine as found in the later model. for just under 4k you get electric seats, windows, power shut boot, self levelling rear end, 5 speed auto, 37 mpg, leather, parking sensors front and rear, cruise control, air con, climate control the list is bloody endless.
but you know the best thing of all, EVERYTHING WORKS! and its got 200hp and its got 470Nm (347lbft) of torque
it really is a great car, may have an old mans image but i couldnt care
First trip away with it in October, tour of mull rally. 4 guys, boot laden with drink, food, a caravan,telly, playstation, gear for 4 nights, generator, bought alloy wheels when i was there and it never missed a beat
the thing is bigger than our bloody caravan!!!
after getting its mot the tester recommended i look for some new rubber. My dad just got some AMG replica wheels to make his car look better than mine so i think i did a bit better
They are 18" Cruize Katanas but the importan figures are the widths. 8.5" front and 9.5" rear. absolutly no rubbing and i think they make for a very rare machine! :DD
next part is probably a touch up at the painters but i did see a very cool roof box on ebay a couple of weeks ago ( god i'm getting sadder by the second!
