I totally agree, if the guy breaks it... someone should break him for spares - sell his organs off. But not his brain. That'll be no good to anyone! If I had that kind of cash I'd have it. But I'd struggle to find £9 at the moment, let alone 9 grand!!

That cant be broken its a one off I am not an advocate of cars in museums generally I always feel they should be driven but that would be much better of there rather than being broken

I can imagine some sort of collector would buy it, I'm pretty sure it was advertised for approx £20k a while back so they'd be getting a bit of a bargain really.
Why would somebody offer £8k for the BDA though? don't think it'd be worth that if it had just been rebuilt.

Bloody hell, all that for some engine bits! It'd be a real shame to see a one off car get pulled to bits for spares, it's just shame it isn't an affordable price, no doubt it's worth that but the problem with being a retro car owner is you never have any bloody money! ;D ;D ;D

welcome to the world of owning a retro ford.
people are so uptight about 'concourse' and being generally bufty, they pay completely silly money for stuff, because its not been used before. it really does my head in sometimes, when I'm after a part and people are trying to charge silly money for something

Just talking to somebody who said that the BDA was used in the RS200, which would explain why so expencive and sought after

thought the RS200 was a BDT (Belt Driven, Turbocharged)... the BDA being the NA version of the same engine. Not sure what it was used in though? I just remember my RS200 special edition of Performance Ford magazine from the late 80's

save typing I thought I would just copy it ;D
basically BDA and BDG were used for rallying BDT was developed for the RS1700T mk3 escort RWD rally car that came out as a replacement for the MK2 just as everyone else was changing to 4WD. Then a development of that engine was used in the RS200`s when Ford finally got a 4wd car sorted just as group B was shelved

I was a little bothered about the potential of such a rare car being broken for spares...but then again, will it be any less rare with a Mexico x-flow in it? Sod it...buy the car, sell the engine and enjoy your £1000 rare-as-a-very-very-rare-thing Ford.

Well, if it's going to be broken up anyway...than maybe a blown Big Block, narrowed 9" and foot-wide Mickey Thompsons wouldn't go amiss. ;D
