Just seen this on a SA classic site, for sale around £4k Interior leaves somewhat to be desired in my book. Rear wing surely there for comedy effect. Look at what the motorvation is though. Known as a Maxi in SA. Original ad. www.moby302.co.za/for_sale/1972_austin_mk2.html

them seats lose the maxi's main atrraction, the ability to fold down and make a double bed, bloody handy for a teenager still living at his mums that was especially when combined with a webasto sunroof for that full on under the stars effect.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

what kind of drugs must you be on to think that modding it in that fashion would look good? such a cool base vehicle and out of the box powerplant, such a shame its been spoiled by the other ideas. imo of course.

Isnt it an Austin/Morris 1800/2200? In any case it matters not that the colour is not to all tastes or that the interior is, er, "loud", it is beautifully executed and the only one of that marque that Ive seen modified to any degree. Fair play to the owner!

Isn't that a landcrab? Interior is nicely upholstered even if the choice of cloth is perhaps dubious, agreed about the spoiler, personally I'd lose the shopping list from the doors and about 3" of ride height but otherwise I'd probably roll that

I'm not completely useless, I can be used as a bad example.

So near, yet so far. Change the wheels and bodycolour. Loose the shopping list on the doors, spoiler and aerial and that would look 87.3% better.
I do like the smoothed engine bay though.

Looking at it, I would guess that the seats are originals out of a modern and the door cards were upholstered to match. In all fairness, it does demonstrate that different countries have different ideas and ways of modifying. Even taking into account the bits i don't like, Id be rolling around in this all day long as opposed to a chavmobile. At least it wasnt played safe, no Fords, Toyotas, no it was something that, even when it was new wasnt overly popular and still isnt. At least he had the balls to do it.

Looking in the background there are two other vehicles that give the game away a bit. Older Land Cruiser, and possibly an old International Ambulance. They probably live on a smallholding somewhere, money not ample, and the stuff that is at hand gets used, like the Mazda engine, possibly from a car that was crashed beyond economical repair, maybe even the builders, or his mates. The colour probably was free. And as noted, the seats and upholstery seats, cheap, and matched. The wing, and other extras we see as chav, possibly in the taste of a 23 year old, whose dad helped him build his car. However, correctly observed, different countries have different takes on everything.

I've had a terrible idea for a project for many years now, involving a Wolesley 6 version of a Landcrab, air-ride and billet rims.
I'm sorry, everyone!

:)I would have preferred it original, but to be fair it looks like the mods have been done well. The guy/girl has obviously put a lot of effort into it, and it's certainly better than it rotting away and ending up scrapped.

Think its cool , would lose the spoiler if it was mine , interior is livable in my opinion but think leather would be better .

Not a fan of the daft spoiler, or the '90s pov-spec interior, but other than that looks rather nice indeed. Purple shouldn't work that well, but does.

^ I'm with you on the colour Impossiblydaft, looks great on that IMO! Imagine it with some choice rims and thin band white walls...... In my head, that would look great!
