I would. Absolutely. My only choice would be what underpinnings to have them build it on.

I would, but only as wedding hire vehicles. For my own enjoyment? I think not.

I would, but only as wedding hire vehicles. For my own enjoyment? I think not. You're right, to drive it would be just like driving whatever 1980s Japanese pickuptruck it was based on. But that's not the only thing about a car that can be enjoyable. A jeepney could be perhaps the ultimate alternative to all those "we're all individuals" in their splitties.

They're a bit "If Elton John did armoured cars..." and I mean that in a good way. But I would have to be about 180,000x more outgoing than I am currently to drive one

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Knowing the German TÃœV.... Well, you would be walking home aftera long stay with rather large men in a small place ;D Glad some of you "Get it" to me it would be part of an ecclectic mix of weirdo stuff. Anyway, would love to at least see one in real life. If one reads about their origins , then it becomes more clear, and understandable.

Saw these when I was in Manila last year, The streets are flooded with them, Normally having dozens people just hanging of the sides for dear life!, They are really slow as well.
Think they are based on 1940s WW2 Jeeps which used since then as well, probably the same vehicles as well just with new parts being added.

I travelled in a few Jeepneys when I was in the Philippines a few years ago. A few hours across rutted mountain tracks is an experience. The locals do stand on the back and sit on the roof, but they're a polite bunch and always allowed me to sit inside.
The original ones were stretched US jeeps, but nowadays they're purpose-built. Quite a few have Mercedes badges on the front! I'm not sure if they actually have Merc diesel engines though.
Manilla is the most smog-ridden place I've ever been to.
