Hope it's ok to sort of re-visit this thread! I've now sold my three foot tank and most of it's inhabitants and kept the two footer with just four inhabitants. One silver dollar (my favourite!), one Columbian red finned tetra, a loach and a seriously cool discus who seems to be something of a chameleon and blends into various backgrounds! I think that's enough I'd make the mistake previously of overloading tanks and don't want to make the same mistake again. Anyhow a chance flick on eBay has landed me something of a bargain: acquired a two foot marine tank, c/w skimmer, external pump the lot for £80 and can't wait to get it cycled and up and running. Pictures to follow!

I've wanted a aquarium for years and years.
I fancy something with lots of tiny fish like tetras and neons, nothing more than an inch or two.
I don't know much about them, as you can tell!

Would it be possible to link 2 tanks together with tunnel, so that the fish could swim from one tank to the other. I've always thought it'd be mega cool on a new house build to create fish tanks randomly placed around the walls, with hidden tubes linking them so that the fish could swim from tank to tank. Matt That'd be damned cool as it goes! I wonder if it's possible with a glass cutter and some sealant? Hmmm... Many years ago (well over 10 yrs) I bought my sister and her fella a tank for their wedding pressie (they were keen on getting a fishtank - it wasn't jsut some random idea for a present The tank was actually three individual tanks with tubes that linked them together - a top and bottom tube between each tank. It was awesome - watching fish swim from tank to tank....and looked really cool because it was different from the usual large rectangular tanks. No photos I'm afraid (pre digital camera) but I'll ask my Sis if she still has any shots of it. EDIT: Just found this on the net - my sisters tank was the same as this but a larger version (about 5ft long, over 2ft tall)

VIP, tropical set ups are quite easy to get going and fish are plentiful and cheap. Mystery, what a cool set up and very inspirational! Marshall, love that marine set up and that's exactly how I'd like to get mine. I'm going to start off with a fairly basic set up and see how I get on. I haven't got the fancy lighting so can't get any corals just yet which is a bit of a downer but will be testing my water this evening/tomorrow and hoping it's fit for a clean up crew. If so I'll be out and about tomorrow visiting various local fish shops. Can't wait!
