I needed Google-fu to work out what you were on about so yeah, very rare. Chances are though they just want rid so going in there and waving a couple of hundred notes could do the trick just to get it out of their way.

It's so rare and cool you shouldn't be sitting here and wastin your time - save it. Pronto Sadly it isn't that valuable. I rest my case.

As with all 70s Renaults, the biggest enemy is RUST!! Body panels & trim might be tricky to get in the UK, but worth checking ebay France. Mechanically I think they've got the same 1289cc engine & major bits as a 12. Definitely worth saving from the crusher IMHO, very rare, quite pretty, and not very dear to own, provided the R word isn't an issue! They look like this..... Or this, if it's a later model..

If you save it and decide you can't keep it I very much doubt you'll have any problems selling it on if you offer it at a good price.

I'd be amazed if there's more than 5 of those in the UK

I reckon there are more than 5, but probably not many more! Needs saving.
As Pog and others have said, rarity does not equal valuable in this case. Renaults are seriously unloved in this country. I know of a good one that's been for sale for seemingly forever at about £3000.

I've got one -(used my similar 17 for RR08) -and it is indeed rare. Ratdat has 2 (-I a spares car). Most mechanical parts are easy(ish) to sort- bodywork you're into remanufacture.
They are pleasant-but unassuming to drive- Renault 12 engine/running gear a bit overwhelmed by the weight of the body.
Most are fairly low mileage -never come across one with more than 70k on it.
So-all in,a bit bland, but certainly rare. Good luck!

Blimey, that is a clean old thing. I'm personally not into motors'l'france, but I'll be keen to see how this develops. Good luck!

This thread has been a real education for me. "How rare is a Renault 15 Coupé?" - Google Renault 15, never having seen one in my life... "Similar to a Renault 17" - Google Renault 17, never having seen one of them in my life... "Shares the mechanicals with the Renault 12" - Google Renault 12, to find out that I have seen one , just didn't remember it... but that was about 10 years ago

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.
