1989 Isuzu Piaza
Starts and drives with a battery but has been stood up for at least a year. I originally bought it to use the running gear in another project but ive decided to go another way. Ive only driven it round my yeard so I really cant vouch for much on the car. 1st gear sounded a bit whiny but the engine sounded ok. It does have a pretty bad mis-fire which sounds ignition based to me. It has a set of alloys on it which I'm told are 'one offs' but I'm not 100% on that myself. The igniton barrel is busted so I used a screw driver to get it going. Its blue, has 65k under its belt. It seems fairly solid. Theres a bit of rust on the wings. I'm looking for what it owes me which is £225. Located right by stansted airport. Many thanks!

Its painful to watch these super cool and very rare cars getting decimated for their rear axles, soon there'll be only auto ones left.
I have broken one for its axle a few years ago like, but it was completely rotten as a pear.

Whine in first gear is common, the boxes are lubricated with engine oil and the noise normally means they're low on oil.
BTW, LSDs were cost options on the HBLs but most of them had them as standard. Does it have 'G80' on the chassis plate?
Some pics would be great, and I will let the IPTOC know.
plums - I am also a bit annoyed at the wasting of Piazzas for their rear axles. It seems that this is the only part of them that's worth any money - the rest of the car almost comes for free.
I would have thought with J Tin being more popular these days that more of them would have been saved and enjoyed for what they are - rather than a cheap way of drifiting a Chevette \ Manta round Basingstoke....
YES some of the parts are hard to come by, but most can be sourced by the IPTOC which is a very good and supportive club. The only thing completely NLA is HBL front discs. Not a problem for me because mine shares the discs with a pickup truck.
Clive has helped me out on many an occasion and will often work out a deal just to keep one on the road.
Don't what the actual on road figures are now - there seems to be quite a few extant as spares or pieces but precious few actually cruising about. I recently bought spares from a rotten HBL that was banger raced. Plenty of interior spares \ whatnot available certainly.
*awaits inevitable backlash from the Vauxhall brigade...

My view is yes it's a shame for rare cars to disappear because they're worth more as spares. However, it a fact of life, "grotty old opels" are being scrapped to provide gearboxes, sumps etc, Rovers for V8 lumps and Piazzas for slippy diffs. You can't save them all. The seller of this one was going to use it's running gear, so if one of you manages to save it well done. However, just posting that it's a shame if it gets broken won't save it. Getting your cash out, buying it and restoring it will. Otherwise it's rear axle may find it's way onto a very cool Manta that would be worthy of it.

BUT I've already got one And my storage situation is dire at best... I already have a shed full of bits of another! Also, there were a damn sight more Mantas \ Chevettes built than Piazzas. It is indeed up to whoever buys it to do as they please with it. It's just that you never seem to hear of people buying Piazzas to do up, or even drift as a bare minimum, all people want with them is to rob their back axles for a Manta \ Chevette project. Piazzas are unfortunately in that twilight zone, like Marinas, 405 Mi16s and BX 16 valvers - they're worth more in bits than as cars in their own right I'm not saying that the former aren't worthy cars \ projects, I suppose it's just a bit gutting to see these cars get thousands thrown at them and be back on the road at the expense of yet another Piazza that could have been driving around had someone not nicked its rear axle. Horses for courses. Kudos to tcsperformance for selling it as a complete car rather than a pile of bits. Nowt wrong with breaking a shitter for its back axle, go right ahead, it's the borderline cars that cause the disagreements. I'm not sure what the state of tcs' car is, Piazzas are worth very little so it could be serviceable, or it could be a lash up that would be put to better use under an Opel.

this sounds good. is the car in stanstead? reckon it would survive a 300 mile trip back to the northeast? and yes i do have a manta but i'd rather save a mega cool piazza than rob it's axle. looking forward to pics!

I'd save one to ''do up'' -but the pricing is never right. The value of a few components means pricing stays too high to currently render it an economic repair.
But I'm watching/waiting.
Oh yes- I have owned one previously, so am aware of their foibles; and have a few otherIsuzu' cars now as well.

Had the back jacked up today and turned a wheel one way and the other wheel turned the same way. As much as I would of loved to have got the thing on song outside lighting up the rear wheels the miss fire prevents this :-p
The shell is from what I can see pretty solid so with some time and tlc I'm sure it could see an MOT pass again.
