i'll go with em on the granny, seriously forgotten for such a good car for the money really and other than the soggy fusebox problem and the 24v's habit of eating gearboxes a pretty reliable car. still hate them for making the list though.  |

Well, they actually praised over half the cars on the list, questioning how the Capri or XR3 or 205, for example, could ever be considered naff to begin with. Seems they got the judgements as to "naffness" elsewhere?

Bizarre. It never occurs to me that when I'm out and about in the Cressida that people like that are looking at me...do they really look at old cars and think that we're all craving a brand new Vauxhall?

The Capri had a terrible image problem for years here. I used to get asked to park my Mk2 "out of sight" or "somewhere else". The only people who drove Capris were benefit scroungers, the kind of people who rob old ladies, drink special brew while driving, and wear stained nylon trackies. There was a point when pretty much every drink drive accident involved a Capri. According to our local paper anyway. Before the term chav was invented they were the absolute iconic chav car. I'm trying to think of a car which would promote such universal derrision now, but am struggling. I only "got away" with driving mine 'cos I painted it lime green and everyone assumed it was a clever ironic punk thing I had going on. Rather than I just liked Capris. Go figure. I generally don't bother what other people think.
I haven't bothered reading any further into that "article" than the pic of a tidy 105E and wondering who considers them ugly or naff (although I will remind you that less than ten years ago a local garage advertised that there was no need to put up with a rusty Ford Anglia, you could trade anything in on easy terms at... blah blah blah and I was surprised they had picked on the Anglia.
IMO the naff cars are Renault Clio, Peugeot 1007, Kia Picanto, Ford Focus...
But what do I know about style, huh?

Its all subjective cos personally [asbetsos]flame suit on[/asbestos] i DO find Audi quatro's a bit naff, they don't handle particulally well and are heavy and not pretty, the capital Q super whizzy mega horsepower jobs are pretty cool, but the rest of em are a bit tacky. (IMHO)
