Found this badly abused Sharp GF990 on the local s/hand brick a brac stall today. I didn't even quibble the price £2.50
Anyone who knows ghettoblasters knows this is poor quality wobbly children's play pony poo they were only produced for a short time in 1985
I didn't expect it to work at all but sure enough a power lead added and it fired into life straight away
The synthesiser still works
it will need drive belts as the decks try to work but slip badly the tuner is fine even with a broken aerial it picks up everything.
What suprised me is how bad it looks and how well it still sounds Sharp really knew how to build stuff at one time thats for sure
I think this damage is beyond repair though
but what the hell maybe i should start a fashion for ratlook ghettoblasters ;D
