every magazine has a separate section for cars as parts and wanteds... Most forums and sale websites too.
I agree that splitting tech out would be a mistake. Look at Retrocarclub for a prize example of too mcuh separation being a bad thing.
I think the for sales rhough would benefit

Having just come back from a weekend away and read through the first 4 pages of this forum, only to find a handful of genuinely interesting threads I'm tempted to make a Blackhole of RR and stick everything in there.
I'll split the for sale section now.

Sort of still on topic!! what about a "feedback" section?

cti, what do you mean by giving feedback? i assume the link is to show where you can put comments and questions about the site itself.

When you buy or sell something just a little coment so you know they are trustworthy etc? just an idea maybe? not sure if it would work?

i think its a mistake to split the cars and parts for sale section
works fine as it is - if you want to search it - use the search facility
and HW - i found plenty to read over the weekend, mostly in the general section - perhaps there should be a new rule: "If its not interesting to HW, it wont be interesting, please read his mind before posting anything"

"If its not interesting to HW, it wont be interesting, please read his mind before posting anything" Thats pretty much how I ran this place for the first year or so.. if I didn't like it, I deleted it. Soon the board was a bastion of all that could be great in a car forum Too many people/posts to do that now. So I'm having a think.

I think it might be easier to read minds. Indeed, the search facility sucks... Enter keyword, choose which forum section to search, check the 'Search posts' radio button, and it searches the posts for your required string. Enter keyword, choose which forum section to search, check the 'search titles' radio button, and it STILL searches posts for your required string.

Or alternatively use the handy Google search at the bottom of the page \/\/\/\/\/ down there. Select to search only retrorides forum

So use an alternative For example when searching for a word which has less than 4 letters like VAN (which you can't) You can in the link posted by HW

Yeah, it's still curse word though. I know it's not your fault, there's nothing really you can do about it, etc. but I'm sure everyone will agree the forum is halfway to being unsearchable.

Never found it a problem - like most things you get used to it and work round it The search facility does work it's just not as easy as some One of the things that helps me is bookmarking threads I am really interested in or are really usefull (trying to remember to move them into the really usefull section helps too)

hmm this place surely moves fast, but thats the beauty. You never get bored at that lecture, ;D or at the work desk. (trust you don't want to be on a forum that moves slowly there Boring). personaly I have not had a problem using the search, infact i believe its awsome you can find posts you never even knew existed. if cant find what you looking for make the result size bigger, if its too slow getting a faster pc does the trick. Thanks for the seprate section for the parts hotwire ;D cheers Gobs
